Out of all the forums i picked threw its normaly nvida and laptops that do the silent mode thing but ill google it.
I do not have that options because im not on a laptop.....
(This picture was taken off of google my catalyst control center doesn't look like this nor do i have the option of switchable graphics.)
I think I may be have a similar problem... I have Gtx460 that is getting less than 100FPS (20 on a modded world). And then I have a laptop with a 560M (~1/2 the CUDA cores and slower clock) that is getting up to 200FPS vanilla (40-50 on the same modded world). If you find a solution, please post it. It might apply to Nvidia too
I'm still having problems with this. I'm able to play newer games with everything maxed out Battlefeild 3 ... Boarderlands 2 all on high settings i even unlocked physX on boardlands 2 to work with my ATI card and still getting better FPS then minecraft o.o, i just started using the new beta drivers for ATI and still nothing.

I was reading about nvidia and laptop's if you have a newer laptop in order for the laptop to save power for lesser gaming it will switch to on board graphics display there is a way tof orcet his from happening. Was also reading about alot of people having problems with this and unable to do anything about it.
I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, upgraded from 5770 to a Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7950 OC and I'm getting worse frames than before. I'm running on the latest Catalyst drivers and Java 64-bit.
I hit a windows upadte a few months ago that made this heavy modpack server go from 700 fps with highest settings while running a shaderpack down to 15 fps on min settings vanilla.
I was able to roll back for awhile as a workaround but every 2 weeks my comp would force shutdown midgame and just update me. It's incredibly infuriating. I gave up for a couple months, apparently several members of the server had the same issues. I'm now on windows 8 and have the same issue.
