Can you help me fix what is wrong? and i tried force updating it but it still crashed
Try instead of going options, force update, try to delete everything, but your Minecraft.exe and lastlogin, and SAVES
If you don't know where to find this, go start and type in %appdata% then click roaming, then .minecraft then delete everything but what I mentioned earlier. IMPORTANT: Don't forget to backup your saves file, if you don't you'll lose your worlds.
Some texture packs modify the title screen, and can cause crashes before loading. If you are using any high-resolution texture packs, try uninstalling them and see if it works again. This will be true even if you only put the texture pack in the textures folder, and have never actually loaded it.
Mods also affect this, but you say you aren't running any mods.
Failing that, you should re-download and reinstall MC, as It's conceivable, but unlikely, that if the splashes.txt file got corrupted (some corrupted characters). Don't just reinstall from your original download, that would just repeat the problem, you have to get a "clean" minecraft.jar file. Could be an internet hiccup caused some corruption of your downloaded file.
(I did some playing around. I renamed my splashes.txt file, and MC did choke on startup.)
If you start seeing the same error message for OTHER Java programs, or OTHER MC files, then you have a Java problem. But you'd probably see that already in other programs, not just MC.

Do you update your video driver?
Do you use any mods?

Evil Monkey does not approve of game crashes.
