Hello everyone, I was always a lurker around these forums but I decided to join officially lol. I got Minecraft since Feb. of this year on my Acer laptop, I never had problems with it before until my laptop's motherboard fan broke down and the laptop is now unusable. I got a PC from my brother and tried using Minecraft on that, at first I saw it was like choppy, wasn't as smooth on the laptop. I'm still learning about computers in general and I found out about my Frames per second. At first I was getting around 5-10 FPS, I changed the settings to the bare min. and I managed to get around 20-25FPS, and sometimes I manage to hit 30. Before I continue, let me put my info down below:
Not sure if you need more information, like I said I'm kinda new at this lol. There was a website called "Can You Run It" and I looked up minecraft, I'm passed the min. requirements to play Minecraft and then I clicked on Recommended and it asked for 4GB of Ram. Now on my laptop I had 4GB ram, does that really make a difference? Also I tried getting OptiFine and even got it from the forum here but it was errors so I couldn't get it to work. Can you guys help me? I would really appreciate it!
I have done that, only gets around 20-25 FPS and Optifine doesn't seem to work for me. Followed the instructions given and it crashes my client.
Then you're doing it wrong.
All you do is extract the download (using 7-Zip) then put everything inside of the folder (only the files not the folder) into the "minecraft.jar" file (open it in 7-Zip then drag the files in) and you're done.
Also set performance to Power saver because Max FPS caps your FPS to I think 150 and power saver caps it at 40 (which will make it a lot smoother instead of bouncing around and giving it an overall bad feel).
And once you install OptiFine make sure that all the animations, particles and the rest are at low/off this will give you a huge boost.
ALSO (last thing I promise) set your resolution to 640x480 and play in full screen (you can only change your resolution once you install OptiFine).
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20GHz
RAM: 2GB (1.87 usable)
Windows 7 32 bit
Video Card: NVIDA GeForce 6100 nForce 405
NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GT
