So, as you all probably know, the most recent snapshot, 12w36a, just came out. I've only recently started playing minecraft and have no clue how to download/install a snapshot. Can somebody please help me? I really want that snapshot.
yeah as berwout said . is difficult. and there's not that much difference between the 1.3.2 fixing bugs? nah just small bugs not major bugs like Lag issues or internal server issues
yeah, no warnings about how snapshots
1) might corrupt your game because of bugs
2) can't be modded, and can do horrible things to a modded world (like turn all your mod X blocks into creeper heads)
3) probably won't leave your world in a state that can be run with the official release (which doesn't understand creeper heads)
4) might not leave your world in a state that can be run with the next official release (because it isn't finished yet)

+ 1 exactly that. there's no official word saying the snapshot will work right or not. that's why mojang say is a snapshot and not a full release they want people to know how are things going according to the new version aka snapshots
besides you can't play on a server using a snapshot
some people consider installing a snapshot difficult because they have no clue about minecraft things that's all the same goes for new guys that doesn't know how to mod.

Depends on the server, I keep mine updated to the most recent snappy...
As for them "warnings" I have not had a snapshot ruin a world since I have started playing. Regardless, I love the warnings but no resolution to them.
ALWAYS back up your world before running a snapshot. (If you are worried about those warnings anyway...)
Regardless go here: http://www.minecraft...versions#12w36a
That is the most recent snapshot. The left side of the table lists additions and bugs. The right side has the download linkage
Here is how to replace the files (Reader's Digest)
Locate minecraft folder (I can provide the path if you need it...or rightclick on the Minecraft.exe and select "Open File Location"
You should get this folder:
Now open the bin folder (highlighted in the last screen):
Rename the Minecraft.jar to Minecraft1.2.3 (or whatever) and replace it with the snapshot. Viola! Done!
Awesome. It works. Thanks for all your help everybody. And just for the record, I don't do anything too intense with my minecraft.
I just like to build..... A lot XD. I'm also not worried about MODs. I don't know how to install those either XD
