Hey guys I've been trying to fix this connection problem for a month now, and I have had no luck. Basically when I have the server list loaded up on my minecraft it displays a horrible connection to the servers. They usually have 1200ms+ ping every time, on each server. But the realtime ping (using ping with cmd) will be between 13-80 each time, never getting near/above 150ms. Does anyone have a fix for this?
If you need any further info, post and I'll be glad to provide. Things I have tried: * Completely deleting/reinstalling minecraft * Open the Minecraft ports. * Un-mod my MC (same as reinstalling.. ) * Restart my modem/router
Note: When I use another computer on the same internet, it's fine. So it's something internally with my pc.
it must be a problem with the server ? are you on the same place or you're trying to play on a server outside america?
do you have any antivirus installed? like AVG ? it might be your problem try disabling it

Its not the server, nor my anti-virus. It's minecraft. It started doing this when i updated to 1.3.x
Here's a Screenshot of what I see..
You can't truly compare the MC reported time with the time for a command line 'ping'.
MC makes a TCP/IP connection to the server and retrieves the user count and MotD. The time it takes to do that is what MC reports.
Any kind of AV/Firewall that scans outbound connections can introduce latency to this connection, and probably to your game as well.

So don't trust the MC clients ping? Nice post count btw.
I'm not saying don't trust it, I'm saying that it is an "application level" ping. It measures far more than an ICMP ping does, so it is should be more representative of actual server latency, but more importantly the fact that "ping" and MC report different numbers is to be expected.
Now having said that, there's quite a few people who claim that they see larger numbers with 1.3. On my own system I don't see anything unusual so I can't explain that.
