Yo, Getsu here. I have a question. I have tried and tried to allocate more memory to Minecraft but it never seems to work. Before, it wasn't feasible considering that my computer only had 1 GB of memory. My new computer (which I just got) has 6 GB memory. I figure that I can allocate at least 2 GB to Minecraft without any issues. Well it never seems to work. I open Notepad, and type this in: javaw -Xmx2048m -Xms1024m -jar "C:\Users\Zach\Desktop\Minecraft.exe" into the notepad, then I save it as a batch file on my desktop. However, when I click the batch file, it immediately closes. Is this too much memory allocation for my computer to handle, even with 4 GB free? Do I need more memory in order to perform this allocation? Please help, I really want to get Minecraft running more smoothly so that I may enjoy playing it. Thanks!
You do not need more RAM. It is not necessary unless you have about 20 worlds which I doubt you have. All you need to do is check out a FPS booster mod like Optifne which is reletivly easy to use. If your assigning more RAM make sure you have nothing else using that RAM.
Add a new line with the text "pause" and it will pause until you press a key so that you can see the error.
And I will try that, thanks.
Edit:
I used that line and this is what the cmd window says: 'javaw' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
What does that mean I wonder?

@Syfaro
I have 64-bit. I've also tried Running it as the administrator. No go.
