I've recently built myself a new computer with an SSD system drive and a large HDD for storage. In the process of attempting to optimize things for the SSD, I permanently moved the entire user accounts folder to the storage drive. This is working perfectly so far for everything except Minecraft. It is installing to the storage drive because that's where the normal install location is now located. I've been trying to move the installation to the C drive, but I've encountered a problem.
So far I've successfully (I think) moved Minecraft to a folder on the C (system) drive by following one of the guides for installing Minecraft to a USB drive. In theory, I think that should all work out the same. The problem comes when I try to run the game. I keep getting errors saying that the game cannot write certain files. I think this has to do with permissions of some sort for the folder where I've moved my Minecraft install.
Has anyone had any success doing what I'm attempting? Is it a simple matter of changing folder permissions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've done that, and it works up until the point where the game attempts to load things after I log in. At that point I get a cryptic error message and I can't continue.
