I am having problems on my computer. When I try to open up Minecraft, it opens, it takes forever to load up, when it finally does after about a munte or two, it chugs along at maybe 1 frame every 5-30 seconds. It freezes up my computer every frame it loads, and sometimes does not show me any options once it gets to the menu, and appears to only take up about 1/4 of the window. Sometimes it will be full screen but it will not run at all... and just take 100% of my CPU and not do anything. I ran it perfectly fine on this computer before, so I know its not the computer, I believe it may be something with the newest version of Java. I tried rolling back Java to a previous version, also updating it to the newest, neither have worked. I really want to play again, and want to know if this problem has been reported before. Thanks.
I deleted my folder completely, it is a fresh install. I never ran any mods on this computer. I tried using optifine, not sure which if I picked the right one, but I tried 'B2 Light' to see if it made a difference, but it did the same exact thing when I opened it... I just want to run the game at the most basic of settings for this computer, but it won't even open at all since the most recent update or 2.
Is there a specific version of Java I need to be running for it to work properly? This is my work PC, it is running Windows XP, and I have played it for a year or so on this computer on and off and took a bit of a break...trying to get back into it now and it just will not work properly...I know its not a lag issue it's definitely a software/java issue of some sort, it just puts my CPU usage at 100% and keeps trying to use all my systems ram and grinds my computer to a halt, no matter how long I wait for it to finish 'loading'. I play World of Warcraft on this computer at about 25-30 FPS without issues daily, so I know the computer has plenty of hardware to run Minecraft, maybe with some lag, but nothing THIS bad.
This is what it does on task manager, but it is not playable like this, it's getting maybe 1 frame every minute and makes my computer completely unusable. I have about 800mb of ram free still when it does this, so it's not like the problem is taxing my computers RAM too much to the point of having none left.
Tried updating Java. No change. Got some time to try to work on it this morning, trying to downgrade Java...I honestly think it is a problem with newer version of Java not supporting this computer very well, I have only had problems since updating it initially.
Edit: Tried a few different versions of Java with no luck. Running out of ideas here. Tried clearing game bin folder again with no luck also.
