I have seen literally hundreds of people posting about this error: "Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" but couldn't find any answers so I thought I'd ask.
The background:
I have been happily playing on a server for some time using my old laptop and wired internet, recently I vastly upgraded to a new gaming PC (16GB RAM, i7 processor e.t.c) and now, on the same server connecting using the same internet connection (which I admit isn't great but read on) I now start getting this error. I have reinstalled minecraft a number of times, updated my graphics drivers, tried opening ports, used a .bat file to increase the RAM allocation, uninstalled and reinstalled java (currently using most recent 64-bit).
These steps managed to increase stability in game and reduce the frequency of the error to the point where I can play, but I don't pick up blocks until a few minutes after I break them and I can't open chests. I know it isn't a latency issue as my ping for the server is ~150ms and I'm stable at 120fps. Plus I play on 280ms BF3 servers on Ultra without any problems.
There has to be a setting on my new computer that is incorrect that my laptop had right, but I cannot find it. I don't have any plugins installed and the server is vanilla. (I have tried other servers as well so the problem isn't server side)
I tried to get an error log for when the exception came up, but I seem to have all but resolved that issue.
Any and all help would be appreciated, I am out of ideas
