I installed an adventure map, and thought it was amazing, so I told my friend to try to play with me on LAN. We went to his house and we connected to his WIFI connection, so I set up LAN on my single player world, and he looked in the multiplayer list, but nothing came up for LAN games, even after leaving it for about 5 minutes. I tried it on a single played New World that I started, and he tried the same by starting up LAN. WWe coulnd't connect no matter what, so we tried my house with my WIFI connection. It still didn't work. Neither of us has a cracked Minecraft and we are both up to date with 1.3.2 installed. The only difference between our accounts is that he has has his for maybe 2 years longer than me. I have tried deleting all my worlds and multiplayer worlds, bt it doesnt work. Anyone know how to fix this?
you need to download the server.exe from minecraft.net/downloads and run it
after it runs , start minecraft and check again or type in the ip local or 127.0.0.1
With the new Lan server feature, you don't need the server.exe
You have to open up the ports through your router. Look on the bottom/back of your router, there should be a number simillar to "192.168.0.0". Type this in your browser's address bar and open the required ports. If you need to learn how to "portforward" go to portforward.com or something an follow their instructions.
I have a problem though.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but there is a major issue with the new LAN server feature. If both players are not logged though the internet, then they both have the default name "player". If you try to connect to another computer that is also not logged on, then both players are disconnected. I found that no two people can have the same name, so an internet connection is required to play on a lan server.
Has this oversight been reported, or is it inplace for a reason?
The PF site used to be add free like 5 years ago, but they still have all the useful information. That link uses an example router, but all you have to do is hover the mouse over the "guides" section, select Port Forwarding, and find your router.
If your router is not on there you can use any router to use as an example since the process is relatively the same.
