So i open Minecraft and it seems to be running fine, so I start playing a new world. All of a sudden when I hit f3 I see that I am currently running 0 fps 5 fps TOPS. But when i pause the game, it goes to 40-50 fps. I've tried Optifine and rebooting my computer (To factory setting to clear up some space) It ran fine back before I reset it though. Please Help!
are you on a laptop? and do you have any mods? i would (if you haven't already) set your minecraft graphics to fast and render distance to normal.....and turn clouds off...you get used to it. if you are using a texture pack try using a 16x16 texture pack instead of a HD one.

I just ran into this problem today!
If I run a HD pack the exact same thing happens to me. Except that yesterday nothing of the sort happened! Switch off them fancy textures and the problem goes away.
At least it did for me. Alas, I am a texture artist. Looks like my pack(s) are on hold till this issue goes away.
(From 110fps to 1fps. Unless I hit escape, then it goes back to 110fps...all the processing is devoted to "tick" whatever that is.)
Download 64-bit java (If your OS is 64-bit)
Update your graphic card drivers (NOT from windows update)
Expanding on this open up Java in the control panel
Start Menu -> control panel -> Java
Then go to the 'Java' tab and click on view. In the new pop-up in Runtime parameters enter the following -Xmx1024M (with the - sign).
Click ok, and then ok again and your done.
If you have a spare flash drive there's an option for Windows 7 (possibly Vista and XP) called Readyboost which can also help speedup your system in general. You can access this by right-clicking on your flash drive.
System Model: Presario CQ56 Notebook PC
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: AMD V140 Processor, ~2.3GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Built 7600)
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
If this isnt the Computer specs, can you tell me how to access it?

Those are the specs, but to get more specific ones go to Start Menu > Right click on the computer tab, then click properties. It shows you all your specs.

Retired StaffStill going from 110 to 1 when I toggle the escape menu.
All the processing time is devoted to the "tick" until I hit escape, then it transfers to game-renderer.
While it is processing the tick, I get 0 chunk updates as well...
All well

Doh! Updating drivers... will report shortly
--EDIT 2
Still no go
I figure it is just the snapshot, since that is when the issue cropped up. Was hoping to get a new one this week but alas...
Either way, thanks for the help!
