I have a problem - whenever I record (with Fraps, Bandicam, Dxtory, any recording software out there) my FPS drops from 60 to about 3 to 5 FPS. My specs are

3GB DDR3 RAM
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.6ghz
Intel HD Graphics
500GB HDD6gbps

I think its the hard drive (did math to figure this out) I'm recording in 720x1280, anyone know what the problem is or any suggestions? I'm currently looking into buying a SSD (Solid State Drive).

Well, it depends on your main board, and what type of card it can take.

Try posting a dxdiag report I may be able to tell more about your system from that.

To obtain the DxDiag file:

Press the Windows Key (the key with the Windows logo on your keyboard) + R (at the same time).
Type in DxDiag and press Enter or click OK. This will open the DirectX diagnostic tool.
Click on the Save All Information Button
Save this file to your Windows desktop and name it dxdiag.

I would say that Hidinginthelight is correct that the GPU is the most likely issue here. Just as a query have you tried lowering the settings in game to see if this gives any performance increases? For example reducing view distance tends to be a fairly good one. If this does give a performance increase than it's almost certainly going to be graphics that is the issue. Any AMD or Nvidia GPU ~ $50 mark should be enough for recording minecraft with FRAPS, if you were after more than just that then you might need to look more specifically at the cards. I would also check what types of expansion ports your computer has, most GPUs these days are PCI-e x16

I've lowered my settings to tiny render, I have optifine installed, and recording is still the same as if I play on normal render without optifine.

Thanks, I'll order it and see if it works out. If not then I can at least say I have a dedicated graphics card whenever someone asks me my computer specs (I'm always embarrassed by my CP specs).
