I have had minecraft for a long time now, but never used it on the second computer in my house. I just tried to download it, but when I run minecraft.exe, it says "The registry refers to a nonexistent Java Runtime Environment installation or the runtime is corrupted. The system cannot find the file specified."
Can anyone explain to me what that means and how I can fix it?
I think you should try to reinstall java. If that doesn't work, reinstall minecraft by clicking 'Options' when you sign in, then select 'Force Update'. Then it should update the files, and it will check if anything is changed and will change it to normal. If it doesn't work. Go in your %appdata% folder. Then delete .minecraft. Then 'force update' the game again, then maybe it will work. You have any mods in your folder? That could be it.

I can't open up the launcher. I can't put mods in.
Ok, according what the error says, you need to reinstall java. I know it might not work for you but try to uninstall it and install it again, what are you on linux or windows or mac? Kinda hard problem.

I tried. That didn't work.
