Everytime I am on Creative mode and sometimes survival mode I get this bug. Like I to build a house and it starts double placing , like I click once and it places two and the second block placed is usually in a place I do not want it. It gets me really mad when I am trying to build a big creation on creative mode. The basically makes me take twice as long on a creation that it normally would take, and if any of you are wondering , it is not my mouse. I have tryed about 8 different computer mouses and still the same thing. All my friends that play mincraft told me that they have experienced this too. If any of you guys have experienced this or are experiecing this please leave a reply. Mojang if you could try to fix this bug , it will be greatly appreiciated by me and my friends and brothers because they play too. I do not want to quit playing because the bug is making me mad , I mostlikely will not quit playing because of the bug because minecraft is one of my favorite games. Thank you.
I think it's because of lighting updates. Every time you place a block, Minecraft has to recalculate how the lighting is changed. If you have a lot of light sources around, it forces MC to do a lot of calculating. One thing you can do is try to use as few light sources as possible to light up your build area. I find that for my laptop, where I have the most issues, ten torches in a small area is too much.
The other thing that has lighting is redstone, unfortunately. If you have a lot of redstone around, each powder or torch counts as a light source. There's not much you can do about this except place your redstone last. I'm not sure if covering the redstone helps or not. I'll do more experiments and get back to you.
I am also receiving this issue, on several different computers, with several different mice. It never used to happen - now it happens all the time. I don't recognize any significant lagginess anywhere - it's just that I click a button once, and suddenly I get two blocks placed in rapid-fire. There's no delay, there's no pause, it's just *clickTHUDTHUD*
Its no bug, its simply lag used to happen to me all the time until I got a good computer, Ik its lag Because I was on my server once with my friends and it got sooo laggy for a bit and I even triple placed blocks, It was ridiculous
I've had block-placement problems with lag. It acts in a very different manner. There's no pause or lag involved - quite the opposite, it's happening *too fast*. When this is happening in full force, you can lay down blocks *faster* than you can normally.
its just a simple lag spike at the very last tick (Minecraft movement change) when you place your block which causes a duped signal from your mouse causing a second block to be placed
Ahhh, thank you. Now *that's* an answer. Still don't quite understand why it suddenly started happening when it didn't before..
So i can accept it is lag ... but that's still a bug, if that can happen. And I'd still really like that to be fixed so I can stop wasting materials that I don't get back if I remove them.
I hope that I'm not reviving that much of an old thread, but it is in fact a bug. No matter how good my computer is, it occasionally starts lagging. Apparently, it's the model blocks, like slabs and staircases. When they is too many visible on your screen at a time, the lighting issues come in. You can very this by looking at a rooftop made with staircases/slabs, or even go to grimdale: you should get a considerable FPS drop.
However, in 1.4, the lighting bugs with these blocks should be fixed, hopeful the lag will be too.
This really keeps me from playing a lot. It happens since I updated (completely fresh install) to Windows 8 (which is much better than anticipated, you don't have to use "the store" or the new interface at all...). Never happened before, happens ALL THE TIME now... My Hardware is High end, Ram at 32 GB, that can't be the issue here
You should go in ''Options'', then ''Video Settings'' then turn off ''Smooth lighting''. Your problem should be solved.
Didn't we all try that... it seems like all video cards that aren't high performance give you that issue. I upgraded my card to a gaming one, never had the problem again.
EDIT: By high performance, I meant higher than cheap, standard everyday video cards.

You should look up at the op post and realize "Wow it's a year old post!"
