I just opened firewall advanced settings in System Preferences, and firewall blocked Minecraft. I made firewall allow Minecraft and now it works! Thank you so much!! Now I can finally have friends join my LAN!
I tried doing that but it still doesn't work! Can you help me
So what's weird is I can connect to my sister's LAN worlds , but she can't connect to mine . Please help ! It says " Connection timed out: connect " When she tries to connect to mine . PLEASE HELP ME !!!
well yes sometimes that's it the dominated computer wins, is you sister on the best computer or are you? try checking your cpu, ssd and gpu if your is the dominated then i don't know
I have the same problem; the only difference betewwn the two computers is that mine is wired and the other is wireless. Also, my LAN worlds don't show up on the other, but the other's show up on mine. It's probably the internet connection.
I have the same problem. In 1.3 LAN worked fine. In 1.4, it gives me a 0.0.0.0 ip followed by the port. It doesn't work. How do i fix it?
The 0.0.0.0 is for security. To find out what the numbers are, load another MInecraft client and check the multiplayer list. The four numbers signify which computer is hosting. (Ex. If your LAN world starts with 1.2.3.4, then all LAN worlds on that computer will start with 1.2.3.4)
No, it isn't. 0.0.0.0 means that the server is not bound to any particular IP address, which means that all of the IP addresses on the computer are valid ways to connect to it. When the server advertisement is received by another computer on the LAN the client knows what IP address originated that particular advertisement and uses that IP address as the server's. The server should be sending out advertisements out each and every interface on the server computer, but there is at least one version of MC where that was not working correctly.
There seems to be some misconception here. First, every computer has an IP address. You need to find your IP address, which can be done in many ways. If you type, "What's my IP" into google, it will give it to you. However, that is probably the external IP, and there is also an internal IP which I think you will need for a LAN server because the people trying to connect are within your network.
I am on a Mac, and I like to use the application PortMap, which allows you to open or close specific ports, but I think it is only for Mac. When you open it up the larger IP at the top-center of the window will be your external, or public, IP. The smaller one above it it you internal IP. When you open your Minecraft world to LAN, it gives you those numbers. Ignore the 0s and just take what is after the colon. Now tell your friend the INTERNAL IP (the smaller one in PortMap) and have them type it into direct connect or even add it as a server. Next, tell them to add the colon and what is after it to the end of the IP that they already typed in. That should work if you are hosting the server. Yes, the numbers after the colon change every time you host a LAN server, even if it is on the same world, and I do not know why.
This worked fine for me when my sister on Windows laptop connected to the sever hosted by our Mac desktop computer.
When she tried to host the server, however, I got the "operation timed out" error when I tried to connect. The way we did it is byopening up the start menu and typing in cmd, which should open command prompt. We typed ipconfig into command prompt, which brought up a whole list of stuff. I typed in the IPv4 into direct connect (the IPv4 is one of the listings that comes up when you type ipconfig into command prompt), followed by what come after the colon, and it just took forever to connect and eventually timed out. I am guessing that it is because she was on a laptop or because that was not the right IP. Maybe I needed the internal IP or something like that, but it just took a long time to connect. Later I will just try a bunch of IPs until I find the right one.
Also, I used PortMap to help me host a server, I opened port 25565, but that has nothing to do with the connection error, just letting you know in case you want to host an actual server so people outside of your internet connection can connect.
Let me know if I any of my instruction were unclear, and I will try to help out. I'll let you know if I find the solution.
Just my luck. I have tried everything that the people in the comments have said. All my firewalls are down, i have allowed minecraft.exe into my list of exceptions and yet it still wort let me connect to my brothers lan world. UGHHH
Try ur firewall then; my pc kills me today since i've been tryin lan by pc and mac
And seriously, it's annoying btw i also got this connection time out thingey
Me and my little brother are trying to play MC, and we live under the same house and also use the same connection. For some reason he can find my servers, but i cant find his server, even when he opens it to LAN, and yes, we both have active connection.
Yes that happens to me too! i can see my bro's LAN world, so i try to join and it says 'connecting to server'. i waited for like 5 minutes and then it says 'connection timed out'. so i cant join. And what else is weird is that my brother cant see my LAN world. i dont know if it has something to do with an interference between PC and mac.
This happens to me to. Whenever I try to join my sisters, it says failed to connect. When she try's to join mine, no LAN shows up. PLEASE HELP US!!!! Thanks,
What you do is not allow Minecraft, but allow java through firewall. Like this.
1. Click on Windows button
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Scroll down until you see Windows Firewall
4. Paste this into top bar: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall\Allowed Programs or (on windows 7) Click on allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall
5. Then click change settings
6. Then check everything that says "Java (TM) Platform SE binary
Then it might work! It didnt for me, but it works for alot of ppl!
I used to have the problem of only one way lan world connections but now something changed on my computer and nothing can get through or out when hosting and joining lan worlds, they won't even show up like they used to. Could this be any of the 3 possibilities I suspect
1 windows firewall is blocking
2 avg antivirus is blocking
3 I have jdk, java(64bit) and java(32 bit) all set to public on the firewall.
Here's some more facts:
1 my friend has access to lan world I don't pick up on the same router we're both connected to
2 It will not work for any internet connections
3 It started either when my modem wasn't working and had to get fixed or when I installed avg
4 No one can join my lan worlds on any local network and I can't join anyone's lan worlds on any local networks!!!
Me And My Sis Tried To It Did Not Work But It Was On 1.6.2 It Was Like Bla Bla Bla Then It Did Not Do Anything It Sucked Plz Help Me With This. P.S We Were In The Same House.
I tried doing that but it still doesn't work! Can you help me
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!
