I keep having this annoying error when trying to log in. I also try getting on via crack launcher, of course it allows me in but I still can't connect to any servers. So basically All I can do is play offline Singleplayer. I also tried to connect to my own server via crack launcher but still no use. I mostly use the Magic Launcher and it also has the same error but with more errors:

I'm guessing you updated to 1.3? This error occurs when trying to connect with a 1.3 client to a mismatched version of the server software.

Where do you get this from, it doesn't look like his error report.
Also he gets it on the launcher, even before trying to connect to a server.
I use MultiMC, which keeps a Java console window open at all times. That was the error report I got when I tried connecting a 1.3 client to a 1.2.5 server.
EDIT: Ah I see. It's a connection issue. Something's happening that's keeping minecraft from accessing minecraft.net.
I have the same problem toaday I updated to 1.3 I had Java.socket.exeption: connection reset. So than I downgraded minecraft to 1.2 but it says the server is running on a recent version of the game or something like that !?! I can log to my account with no problems but connecting to severs is still the problem :S
this is happening to other people too? one of the reasons i was pumped for 1.3 was because i wanted to try out the new stuff in a server, but now i cant connect to it. i hope this gets fixed.
Me to my minecraft sais this when I try to get on a server java.net.socketexeption.conection error it has happened since I got the 1.3 version of minecraft. I realy like the server I play but I can't play it. Dammit
Help? I'm using the magic launcher for Tekkit and 1.3.1. It works perfectly fine. Except for this error sometimes. And when I use the 1.3.1 launcher I don't get the error but when I try to join a server it has this error.
This error isn't only for 1.3.1. I've had it by connecting to my 1.3.1 server with 1.3.1, connecting to my 1.2.5 Tekkit server through the Technic launcher, and my 1.7.3 jar to my 1.7.3 server.
Anyone? I recently switched to cable internet but I still have the same error. I have the latest Java (7) 64 and 32 bit versions. I also reinstalled both Javas. And I still had Charter Security Suite before this error.
Now were at 1.4.2 and i still ae this problem i got ity a month ago it may have something to do with your internet if you have cisco, i was messing around with it for my server and now i cant connect #$%@*it *1.4.7

I'm using Charter Security Suite. I disabled that and Windows Firewall and it still won't let me connect. :I

I have this problem in 1.2.5, 1.3.1, and even on my 1.7.3 server.
Whenever I run it, it immediately closes it.
No. I've specifically joined certain 1.3.1 servers hosted by my friends with the same error, and I'm updated as well. So it's not just the version.
