When I'm playing Minecraft and I'm just walking around, my character will suddenly start walking automatically. It's not the inventory + W key glitch, because it happens even when I'm just walking (no clicking).
The only way to stop is opening the Menu, Inventory, or press the offending key again.
This also happens with my jump button, where I will repeatedly jump.
I'm running on a Windows Laptop, so it's not the Linux problem I've heard of. Is there any permanent solution to this glitch? I can't go near cliffs or lava pits without worrying if I'll die or not.
i have sticky keys off as well and occasionally run into at least the autowalk, haven't seen the autojump. not sure what causes it. might be a small bug in minecraft itself. haven't been able to reproduce it consistently tho. a quick stab at escape usually fixes it.
Is there a support ticket for Minecraft where you tell them about a glitch? I clicked the help button, but it just sent me to some site where people ask questions and other people answer, not officials.
The thing is, it may not be a problem in minecraft itself. If your laptop has poor frame rates, that can contribute to problems because of the way java handles input events. If you have a USB keyboard, you can try plugging in and see if you can replicate the problem.
All in all, isolating which side is actually causing the problem would require a java written event logger, to see if any press/release events are being missed.
As for bug reports, most of them are channel through the Wiki using the Version specific info pages.
I have this same problem (In Windows Vista). This broblem is also on Macs. Im not surprised this same problem is in Linux too. This its a bug in the newest virsion of Minecraft (1.2.5). When I run 1.2.3 in offline mode. I don't have this problem.
When I run 1.2.5 in online or offline mode. I have the Sticky Key Bug.
Its not the graphics driver or card.
Its not Java.
Its not the LWJGL files.
Its not my computer or operating system. (I can play Spore with no lag.)
I have found that this is a bug in Minecraft v1.2.5.
Sadly, I can't play online with the older minecraft.jar. >.<
It might be because of the Keyboard driver.
But I do still get the bug when not using my USB keyboard.
I know its the right driver for the built in Laptop Keyboard.
My Logitech K120 (Y-U0009) USB Keyboard don't have a driver I can get from the site.
It uses what ever driver comes with the OS. So I get the bug a lot. I mean annoyingly a lot.
I'm even starting to get the bug with MC 1.3.2. And thats when using the build in keyboard.
But seeing how Minecraft is the only game that I play that has this bug.
The bug might be in Minecraft itself. As everyone keeps saying:
I hope its fixed in the next update (MC 1.4.0).
I also have the same problem in both Windows Vista and Ubuntu Linux.
Sticky Keys in Windows is tuned off. Has been before I got Minecraft.
I tried the OptiFine Mod. It never fixed the bug. All it did was make a lot more bugs on top of the one I already have. So I'm not using it anymore.
What I have learned about this bug so far. There is Auto Walking, Jumping and Crouching. There is also a bug that makes it where you cant move at all. There is also a bug that Makes the Mouse spaze out.
The theory I have concluded: It is not necessarily a bunch of bugs involving the controls. It might be a bug in Minecraft's control system itself.
Why else would the same bug effect all of the buttons on any random Keyboard. And the Mouse have a similar bug as well.
i get auto, run, jump, walk, and sometimes end up walking backwards when im trying to back away from a mob or something its rather annoying especially when im in a cave and theres lava around
It couldn't be sticky keys, the same thing happens to me and I use Ubuntu Linux
With linux its a known problem between LWJGL and the way the system handles inputs. I'm pretty sure the new library updates have fixed it though. http://www.lwjgl.org/download.php
I'm started seeing a couple more cases with laptop keyboards having this problem (although the other guys problem was a lot weirder). If you have USB keyboard handy, try plugging it into the laptop and see what happens.
Install the OptiFine mod for MineCraft. After installing there will be an option called Smooth Input. It's main purpose is to fix stuck keys and slow input response.
If you appreciate my help then please check out the server in my sig! Thanks!

I have encountered the glitch with the following actions: Walking (any direction), flying (down and up), jumping, swimming, and crouching. I don't think I've had it with sprinting, but I haven't tried to replicate it with that. I would like to verify, I have v1.4.7 (most recent) and it still does this. I have a very hard time getting rid of it, too, and it's becoming a serious issue! It seems worst on LAN and Server games. MC Patcher does not help. I am going to try OptiFine, but as that apparently didn't help either, I'm not keeping my hopes up.
Also, I am using a Windows laptop without a USB Keyboard, which may also be an issue...however, this glitch never occurred when using a Mac and it originally never occurred on this computer either, until about two weeks ago. Do you think it has something to do with the update? (Speaking of which, when is v1.4.8 coming out? Not that it's relevant. Just wondering). Another theory is that it may be my Java. Come to think of it, this glitch happened about the same day I updated to the latest Java. This may also be the cause of my troubles, as written in a above post.
Please respond ASAP! I don't know if I will ever be able to play Minecraft again otherwise!
I'm playing on a windows desktop and I'm having the problem with walking, flying, and crouching. i haven't tried to do it with sprinting or swimming yet. I tried force updating to see if that would work and it didn't. I played different games like Skyrim and Fallout 3 and they were fine. I have tried unplugging and replugging my keyboard and that didn't work. I don't know what to do and it is happening every 30 seconds and sometimes just instantly after the first problem. I'm going to try optifine but some one said it didn't work so my hopes aren't up. PLEASE HELP!

So it's not the sticky keys, but thanks.
Any other ideas?
I'm starting to think it's a keyboard problem, but I'm not sure.
Wondering why mine auto-jumps now though.

Also, since when is the Minecraft forum censored? This place has always been , but it's never been run by Nazi's. Until now, I suppose.
