So today i was playing on multiplayer with some friends when my game froze. It froze so much that i deleted my .bin folder and updated the game. When i get back on i have default skin. I tried changing it 5 times, 2 times manually, and 3 times automatically. My friends can see my new skin but i can only see my default skin. Please help!!!
Your skin is stored on an internet server, and is downloaded from there each time you play the game.
When it does not show up it is because some software on your computer is blocking the download.
In particular, one of the antivirus/firewall packages added some 'feature' to block ads that are displayed in applications, and it blocks the skin downloads. (because they are little images, like an ad).
Alright, i dont know if this will work for you guys but i was having the same problems trying to change my skin. So i actually died and my skin changed back to what i uploaded previously, a custom skin, but unfortunately i died again and my skin changed back to the default Steve
This thread is from before 1.3 and was about a client side skin issue.
The 1.3 skin servers are not working reliably, until the server side is working every time there is no point in trying to determine if you might have a client side problem.
