I use Technic Launcher 1.6.4 but I can allocate 1150 MB to it. My mods are: Pixelmon,MrCrayfish Furniture Mod, Single Player Commands,Rei's Minimap and TreeCapitator. (all with its coremods and Forge). It takes 25%-35% of my allocated memory. My settings are all low graphics, but I still get 0-20 fps. Most of the time I have 0-15 fps. Help me please
I was trying to find all the methods to reduce lag in minecraft and many other games and i have decided to share my knowledge : 1) You can set low graphics in game as mentioned above.
2)Go to start and right-click on "Computer" and go to properties. On the left you will see "Advanced system settings" , click on it then you will see a window with system properties. Go to the "advanced" tab and click on settings right under performance, from there you can simply "adjust for best performance" and after you've done you can go to the advanced tab (again ), and click the change button under the "virtual memory" section . Now you can set how much of you're disk space you want to transform into RAM if you press "change" .
3)Install optifine
4)Right click the battery icon on your notification area and set power option to high performance.
5)Install a program called gamebooster . What it basically does is close all the unneccesary processes in the background http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html <- download link
6) I might add some methods later on
This helped me so much. My computer and Minecraft is 3x faster now that I've done this.
here is a good way to get less lagg 1 right click minecraft.exe next you go to propertes after that go to Compatibility and change it to 640 x 480 and when you run it it may look bluer but you have, Way less lag!
If your fps stinks, try going into an offline mode. If you have a good fps, it might lower it. Before it lagged on 2 chunks render, no smooth lighting, and fast graphics. On offline, it worked for me an I could have all the wonderful settings, up to 6 chunks and smooth lighting, and fancy graphics!

Might work!
Do not leave a huge amount of items on the ground
And Do not spawn a huge amount of mobs
However when you get lag, try pressing F3 and a at the same time to reload your chunks.
Hope this helps
