MIne just started doing this recently. I do the Command+Delete(backspace) and it works for a little while but seems to randomly revert back to deleting whole words. Doesn't matter if I log out and back in. Can't seem to notice any pattern to when it switches. It's is getting very frustrating

I only see it switching when I go to another app with chat open
This is a really old post, I know, but this just recently started happening to me, too. Cmd-delete doesn't work (even when I hold FN for the forward delete), and using the arrow keys moves across words instead of letters as well. While restarting the client works, that's not something I'm a fan of, and I can't be the only one, clearly.

Curse PremiumI'm just a Minecraft player that likes to give my opinion. Nothing special to see here.

Curse PremiumEDIT: Try pushing PAUSE BREAK on your keyboard or Print screen, as either of those fixed it for me

Thanks! That fixed it for me!
I'm using Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise), and 'control + backspace' worked for me!
