I've been trying for the last few days to start a tekkit server with some buddies of mine, but I'm having problems making the client software work.
Before I started using the right unarchiver, I was doing it wrong and ended up with a bunch of files dropped randomly into my minecraft file in application support. (I'm on a mac btw, if that makes a difference) I'm using the installer correctly now, but the problem is I can't figure out how to reset my minecraft folder and erase the old files (The tekkit pack requires a blank minecraft folder) and if I try to install it over the old files it crashes my game.
I must've re-downloaded minecraft like 10 times tonight, but I can't seem to reset the folder, somehow all the old files are being applied to the new versions of the game. Also, I can't even manually delete them from my folder because it won't show up in my application support folder. The only reason I know the old files are still there is because I can still find it (in application support no less, right where it should be) by using the installer to select a target folder. Unfortunately I can't edit the contents of the folder from this page, and if I access it with finder it doesn't appear.
Basically: I need to find a way to get a clean version of the minecraft folder, but simply re-downloading won't cut it.
