Tab button doesnt work in minecraft?

On my PC the tab button works fine for what ever the tab button does.

But for some reason when i press the tab button on my mac it does absolutely nothing in minecraft.

Like when I'm on a server it does nothing.

Outside of minecraft it is perfectly fine.

I also checked the controls, TAB is on the "show players online" button if that's what its called.

Help?
