I want apples to be visible on trees. Wouldn't it make a little more sense? If you right click the apple it drops down and you could pick it up. For saplings, this would be pretty strange, so I don't want that.
How is this OP? If it it's OP, then specify. Apples are rare anyways, and if this applied to the chance, then it would still be rare.
As for the suggestion, I can also agree that this is also a small suggestion, but perhaps this can be expanded to having a sort of "Apple Leaf" which rarely spawns on trees, this could be helpful as you would be able to know which tree has the chance of dropping apples, but the rarity still applies.
think about gapples! part of the challenge is to actually get an apple in the first place!
This is where gamerules are used to their full potencial, in Minecraft by the time you're trying to get golden apples, you probably should have a tree farm anyway with desposable apples; however I can understand how this would be bad for UHC, so just set a gamerule to show apples as false.
Besides that, they would have the same spawn rate as apples do now.
But if you can see the apple, it removes the challenge of having to break the leaves and find it, making them easier to get, and I'm pretty sure majoring would want to keep minecraft have its little challenges to keep it fun.
That's the glory of a gamerule, if you don't like the rule you have the option to turn it off.
Everyone on these forums believes that adding an option to 'turn it off' is a bad sloppy addition to a suggestion; but in reality, if used in the correct place it becomes the most logical benefit of a suggestion.
Minecraft is a sandbox, and unlike other sandbox games, it's the one sandbox that will let you change so much of how the game's very mechanics actually function, this in turn allowes for tremendous amounts of freedom when creating, well... it's a sandbox, so in creating whatever you want.
those of you wondering why i don't have an active RP (so far none). i try. but whenever i get to the rules section of it my computer restarts. computer: i realise what your telling me and i give up.
The 1st thing everyone would do on a new server would be run around and get all the apples out of the trees that have them making near impossible for anyone joining late to find an apple. So the newer players will never have a chance to get a golden apple. For that reason I can not support this.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
So this suggestion should be ignored because some like to play Minecraft one particular way? This is the ideal situation for a gamerule (or more ideally a server plugin to reverse if implemented). I always thought the apples were way to OP to start with and would rather see apple trees for the aesthetics anyway. Support
I suppose it could be done if the way Apples are generated is changed. Currently, they just check 1/200 for each Leaf block that decays, if it is Oak or Dark Oak Leaves. That means in 50 blocks (number of Leaf blocks in a small Oak Tree) you would have a 25% chance of seeing an Apple. So if they change it to a 1 in 200/X (X being the number of leaves being generated), you get the same average number of apples, with X-1 fewer calculations. Doing this might actually improve lag coming from clearcutting an Oak forest because it calculates Apples once when generating, not for each leaf when decaying.
But no to the gamerule. Each true/false gamerule squares the number of potential bugs and things that need testing. That is exactly why the developers have already said they don't use them often (I will find that tweet later).

haha, this is the first suggestion I've seen in a long time when the no-support to support ratio is 50/50. it's not actually exactly 50/50, just after a skim through it seems like that. anyway, I think that this would be good, but maybe there should be a big gamerule, that would disable particles, visible apples, and anything else that is like a sort of add on to the block.
SUPPORT anyway

I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.

I agree, but this should be in the small suggestions area. I'm sure it has been suggested before.

+1

It isn't that hard when you have a good iron axe and run into a forest knocking out all the trees you can find.
Yeah, I was gonna add that to the suggestion. Thanks!
My idea was just an idea, and if you noticed, I didn't really give a "No Support" or "Support".

I think that when you think your suggestion deserves a little more credit/attention, then you can make a thread.
