This post is a collection of Mod ideas, some by other people, some by me. I give credit to any of the ideas or pre-existing mods created by other people. I do not have a list of these people, but you and your fans know who you are. All ideas in this list are ones that I believe will greatly improve Minecrafts gaming aspects, personalization and ambiance, some realism, and these ideas will make the game easier in the beggining, but also much harder the further in you go. If you have any Mod ideas that you believe should be added to Vanilla Minecraft, or any comments or opinions on the ones in this list, then please comment, all opinions are greatly appreciated, dont be shy. Maybe Notch will see this and add most of it to the game. but thats just me dreaming big.
Anyways, here is the List of ideas, along with a short-ish description for each one:
Carpets - Thin layers of wool that can be placed on the top side of bricks to make carpets for your home. when destroying carpets, you will only recieve the item drop if they are cut from the floor with shears, or if the block beneath the carpet is destroyed.
Armor Stand - When placed, Armor stands will face in one of the eight Compass directions. (In the same manner that Signs used to use.) armor stands are an exact replica of the player when he/she placed the armor stand. crouching when placing an armor stand will make a crouched armor stand. and the armor stand wears the skin of the character who placed it. Unlike the current armor stand mod, the armor stands arms will not slightly move. the armor stand is not another character, just a stand alone model of the players skin and shape. When the player clicks right clicks on the armor stand it opens a menu that is like a zoomed in version of the players inventory armor area. any items put in the slots will show up on the designated part of the armor stand. allowing a player to ultimatly view themselves wearing armor without actually wearing it. If a player Shift clicks on the armor stand it will emmediatly equip the player with the armor without opening the menu. all empty inventory slots will be filled if the armor stands replica inventory slot is filled with an item. if the player is wearing an armor item that is of lesser value than one on the armor stand, (ex: the player has an iron helmet on, but the armor stand has a diamond helmet on.) then the armor stand will swap out the armor so that you are wearing the highest value helmet.
Backpacks - When the player spawns into the game they already have access to their full inventory, well, in reality people dont have that many pockets. so how can he hold all those items? with backpacks, a bit of realism is added to the game. the players spawns into the game only having access to their nine quick select slots, the full inventory doesnt exist. but once the player gets five leather pieces then they will be able to craft a backpack. (adding dyes makes colored ones.) the armor slots in your inventory will have another armor spot which is for backpacks. when equiped the player can finally use the full inventory. the backpack cannot be removed from the players armor slot if any items are in the players inventory.
Sword Pedestal - a sword pedestal works in a similier way to the armor stand, a player can put a sword in it and physically see the sword sticking out of the pedestal. if the player shift clicks on the pedestal then the sword is emmediatly added into the players first open inventory slot. if none exists, the sword wont be equipped. the sword pedestals have a similier shape to the pedestal from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, but is styled just differently enough to avoid copyright.
Grates - grates are blockes that look like mob spawners (mostly) but instead of spawning mobs, grates allow a player to make lava and water art with much greater ease. the grate acts like any other physical brick to the player, they can destroy it, walk on it, push it with pistons, or jump and hit thier head on it. however, to water and lava, this block is treated like air. water and lava will flow through the slightly transparent block as if it doesnt exist. the grates wont affect water/lava flow direction, hieght, or flow distance.
> Colored Lights - When crafting the redstone light, dyes can be added to make colored lights. when lit, these lights cast off different colors than the normal lighting. this allows players to make things like dance clubs or warning lights that will be noticable without actually looking at the block. the change it light color will alert the player.
Locked Chests - Players can craft a lock out of iron, and put it in the middle square when crafting a chest to make a locked chest, and with it, a key. when created, the chest and key's code will atomatically name it as key 1 and chest 1. (the number increasing with each spawned chest so that a chest only has 1 matching key.) key 1 will only open chest 1, no other chest will be opened by key 1, and no other key can open chest 1. if a player clicks on a chest with the wrong key, a message pops up in the text menu saying "key 1 required". (number changes depending on what chest number it is.) this allows players to lock their chests on multiplayer, but also allows them to give access to the chest to thier friends.
Chat bubbles & Instant Messaging - in alot of servers, the number of messages constantly flowing through the text menu can be over wheming with chat bubbles, any normally typed message appears in a bubble above your head. however, if you want to chat with a person over a distance, you can type /(persons name) (other recievers if there are any, if not then type the message here.) this allows you to message people over a distance, or close by, without floodding the text menu. it makes your text menu's to only be filled with messages from your friends.
More Fences and Gates - fences and gates need to have 4 types like wooden planks. not just normal wood, but light dark and maple fences and gates as well.
More Town buildings & identifying signs - In the towns, these buildings will spawn randomly within the village, they each have a sign hanging from the side of the building just above the door (similer to what skyrim has.) to identify the building. if a player in creative mode places one of these signs below another of these signs, it will hang the sign from the other sign which is hanging from the side of the wall. having these buildings in the game will make minecraft have a more magic mideaval feel to it, and it will allow level/story makers to build tavers and such with working stores and buyable items. here is a list of the symbols on the signs, and what buildings they represent:
A Sword - This building sells weapons.
Three Z's - This building is an Inn, you are unable to sleep in the beds until you have payed the Innkeeper for one. the next morning the beds are locked again, wether you slept in them or not since you payed for the night.
A Potion - This building sells potions.
A Shield - This building sells armor.
A Steak - This building sells food items.
A Beer Keg - This building is a tavern, you can buy beer from here. the tavern also has lots of villagers sitting at the tables and walking around.

A Cross - This building is the church, it contains an altar with an enchanting table.
A Crown - this building is the home of the king and queen of the village/town/city. they are clothed in royal garments.
A Dollar Sign - This building is the bank, in it you can talk to a banker to deposit your emeralds saphirees or rubies into a bank account which you can withdraw form at any time from the same or other banks. you can also exchange rubies saphires and emeralds for the other gems of the same price value. (rubies are worth 100 emeralds or 10 saphires. saphires are worth 10 emeralds.)
Beer - beer can be bought at a tavern or made by adding grass seeds to a bucket of water. beer blurs your vision a little with each cup drank, slows your movement spped, and swerves your movement a little, but in turn, it increases five hearts and two hunger with each cup. a set ammount of time after drinking your 10th beer, your player passes out on the spot. if you passed out during the day or night, you awake at the start of the opposite cycle. passing out in the nether or the end results in emmediate death. passing out also makes you lose 5 hearts. if you die becuase of this loss, you awake to the "your dead" screen.
Shelves - These staircases are not styled to look almost like staircases as they are in the shelf mod, but instead need to look like actual shelfs. a wooden board that can have the items (3) on it, and 2 suport boards angled into the wall to support the item board. shelves that you see in most houses holding up picture frames and such things.
Trampolines - Trampolines look like they do in the trampoline mod, when jumped on the player bounces, but the player wont bounce if they walk onto the trampoline. only when they jump down onto it do they get bounced up. the farther or faster the player is falling when they hit the trampoline, the higher they bounce.
Fridges - Fridges are two bricks tall, and have an opening animation like chests, but it opens sideways. fridges only store food items.
Dressers - when clicked on it open a menu that allows the player to change skins or texture packs in game. Skins and texture packs are saved to the texture packs folder.
Masks - all mod heads that can beobtained in game can also be worn. each with their own vision type.
Colored beds - adding different colored wools to a beds creation creates different colored beds. crafting beds with mixed colored wools defaults to the original bed.
Recipe Book - when crafted, this book lists all crafting recipies in the game, however, all of the recipies appear as question marked shadows until at least one of that item or block has been crafted.
Invisible Blocks - invisible blocks are only accessible in creative mode, but they allows players to build adventure maps that have boundaries without having to make unnatural looking tree and mountain formations. in creative mode the brick has a texture pack that shows a small picture or some symbol on it so that it can be seen in creative mode, but in survival or adventure mode the block is completely invisible.
Rubies and Sapphires - Rubies and Saphires can be mined and used as different money values. Saphires are worth 10 emeralds, and rubies are worth 100 emeralds or 10 saphires. saphires have the same rarity as diamonds, rubies about twice as rare, and emeralds need to be chagned to be half as rare as diamonds.
Enchanted Necklaces - By crafting an emerald, ruby, or saphire along with 3 string, the player can make one of three colored necklaces. when wornin the normal state, they do nothing but add style to the character. (they are added into the 1st added armor slot.) if taken to a church the player can pay the priest 100 emeralds (10 saphires or 1 ruby.) to have him enchant the necklace. enchantments only take effect when the necklace is worn. here are the possible enchantments:
Winged Beast - Player never takes fall damage, no matter what height he/she falls from.
Springy Step - The player can jump 3 blocks high instead of 1.
Fully Fed - the player never starves.
Enderman Arms - the player has a longer reach.
Different doors and pressure plates - Using different types of wood creates doors and wooden pressure plates that match the wood color.
Obsidian armor - armor that is crafted from obsidian blocks, obsidian armor has a health bar twice as large as diamonds and are stronger.
Obsidian tools - tools that are crafted from obsidian blocks and blaze rods. (in place of the sticks.) they last twice as long as diamond tools and are slightly faster. (swords are stronger.)
Ramen noodles - players can buy ramen packs from the food stores in the town and cook them in the oven to make ramen noodles. (fills 4 hunger.)
Shish-ka-bobs - players can craft beef, chicken, or pork above a stick to create chicken, beef, or pork shish-ka-bobs. they fill 2-hunger.
Designated Pressure plates - (human, enemy, and mob.) these pressure plates are made of stone and only activate when the designated character steps on them. Player plates only activate when the player steps on them. (has a gray-scale image of a players face on it.) Enemy plates only activate when Enemy mobs step on them. (pigmen only activate it if they are in attack mode.) Enemy Plates have a gray-scale image of a creepers face. and the last type of pressure plate is the Mob plate. this pressure plate is only activated by peaceful mobs. (the pigmen only activate it if they are not in attack mode.
capes - capes are crafted with wool and string to make colored caps. used to represent your team color, or just for fun, they can be equipped and worn by putting them into the 2nd added armor slot in your inventory.
Team Flags - if the player crafts a stick above two wool blocks it will make a team flag in the color of the two wool blocks. (unmatched blocks defaulting to a white flag.) a team flag, when placed, looks similer to a picture, but hanges from a stick posted into the block its placed on. only the the flag part of the flag is two blocks high, and above that is the strings attached to the pole holding up the flag. 3 blocks high total. only the top brick has to have a block behind it.
Dragon Rebirth and Dragon armor/weapons - whenever you kill the ender dragon, instead of it creating the dragon egg block above the portal, it drops a dragon egg item and a dragon scale item. the player can pick up both items, and if the player right clicks on the ground in the end (doesnt work in the nether and in the normal world.) the egg item will be used up to spawn in another ender dragon. when killed, it will drop the same two items again. effectivly allowing the player to collect dragon scales and use them to craft dragon scale armor, and dragon scale tools. since obsidian armor and tools have twice the health bars of diamond, dragon scale tools and armor have 4 times the health bars of diamond since they have twice that of obsidian. this allows players to have another goal beyond killing the dragon, and gives a new level of ultimate power in the game.
Sleeves - Players can craft Sleeves out of leather, colored leather, gold, iron, and diamond, (obsidian and dragon as well if they are added.) to make gloves. sleeves can be equipped in the 7th armor slot. (3rd added one.) Sleeves add no armor protection, but allow players to have more character personalization.
Gloves - Players can craft gloves out of leather, colored leather, gold, iron, and diamond, (obisidian and dragon as well if they are added.) to make gloves. Gloves can be equiped in the 8th armor. (4th added one.) Gloves add no armor protection, but allow players to have more character personalization.
Holiday chests - Chests that change their skin for the holidays of easter and halloween instead of just christmas. maybe pink and yellow colored for easter, and orange and black for halloween.
Holiday music - Three extra soundtracks that play minecrafted remix versions of famous holiday songs. one for easter, halloween, and christmas. so that the changeing chests and settings that players have built will have their own theme music.
