i have been playing minecraft for about 2 years now. i bought the game back then because i loved the concept and style of the game and saw alot of potential if the developers refined it a bit. but after all this time the same major problems still exist.
i often play on pvp servers where bugs and lag often times mean the difference between life and death. what makes pvp on minecraft so fun and exciting is the fact that you mined and crafted all of your weapons/armor yourself and when you die you risk losing it all; which also comes with the satisfaction of looting your kill. but when you die and lose your things because of something out of your control like a bug in the game or lag it can be quite enraging especially if you were using your best gear which took hours to enchant.
i think instead of adding trivial things in the updates the developers should first address the major issues to make the game more playable. these issues include:
- terrible registry when attacking other players especially when they are moving. lag may be a factor in this but registry in minecraft is definitely subpar to many other games.
- too many hackers. im sure many of you are aware of the Nodus hack client. it is extremely unfair to legitimate players and it is pathetic that it is so easy to cheat. anyone can download the client and start hacking/cheating.
- too many bugs/glitches. many players find themselves stuck in water or irregular blocks like half slabs or fences making them sitting duck to be hacked away at by enemies. also including the chunk loading glitch which has been around for a very long time.
- terrible sprint controls. double-tapping W to sprint is very inconvenient. you can download "KeySprint" mod to bind sprint to a key but why wouldnt the devolopers just fix it in the game's code.
- lag. many users including myself have reported a significant increase in lag on all servers with the 1.3.1 update. this for me was the final straw which made the game unplayable.
before you tell me to get a better computer or graphics card, i run on the lowest settings and my computer is more than capable at 100+ fps constant.
please post your thoughts on this. i cant be the only one.
