ok ok so follow me on this one. image 1 is the recipe for redstone stars. i thought it should be perfectly expensive so 4 redstone stars require 1 nether star and 4 redstone. perfectly lategame but balances its power. image 2 is the autocrafter which makes autofarms better, for example make ender eyes or shears. you can select a recipe by the right click and can be as complex as a piston and theoretically could be use to farm pistons or maybe even sticky pistons with slime farms and skeleton spawners. image 3 is the selective hopper which makes sorter systems a million times more efficient and will work on bedrock. again right click to select an item to seperate. might come up with more recipes with redstone stars.
well one of the things i would look forward to would be a cake farm, theres a little cow factory farm to get milk, a wheat farm to get wheat, little sugarcane farm, and a egg farm . or a gold apple farm with pigmen. and through a gold farm you could even get an auto villager farm but that might be a bit complicated.
This seems like overkill in cost for something that isn't all that useful. I can't really think of any items that I need to craft in such staggeringly huge numbers that I need an auto crafter. Even if I needed hundreds of chests or planks or something it isn't that big of a deal to craft a bunch, place them, then craft more.
The selective hopper is more useful to me, but requiring a Nether Star (even if it can make 4) is too expensive. If I'm going to make a sorter I'm likely going to want to sort dozens of different items. I'm not going to grind out killing the Wither multiple times just to have a slightly easier time sorting my junk than doing it by hand.

In my worlds, I use autocrafter mod primarily in farms to convert ingots to blocks, melon slices to melons etc. Quite useful.
I guess it would depend on play style. Personally I don't normally have tons of ingots because I mine about 2x what I need for whatever I am doing, then I don't really bother getting more until I need more. As for Melons, Silk Touch lol.
I'm not opposed to an auto crafter, even if I don't need it. But it suffers from the same problem as the Selective Hopper, that it costs too much for being a niche use that is convenient, but not necessary. If the crafter required fuel like a Furnace but could output say... 1 craft per second then it would be better imo. Gives us more use for fuel which most players have tons of and you don't need to grind out Wither Skulls in order to make them.

Not sure how I feel about the auto-craft station (leaning toward no support), but I do like the selective hopper idea

You can also use redstone circuitry to create an autocrafting system in Minecraft. The Geniuses on SciCraft showed it to MumboJumbo.
