Mojang only has 37 employees. 1/2 are fiances and customer service. 1/4 is PE, Xbox, and PS. 1/8 is other. The rest is PC. Can I say something. Mojang owns the 3rd best game based on Guinness World Records: Gaming Edition. I think that 1 update once a year is not good for the community.
This is a kinda game you can't have a whole building of people work on at once. ONE thing being added can basically cause a riot as history has shown. (1.7 terrain changes) Many people would also feel it loses it's originality, among other problems with that. Although, about 1 update a year is annoying, but this game is so popular, it has to take that kind of time.
Mojang has reached for their community several times already when they felt like they needed to enforce their team. Want examples? Dinnerbone, Searge and theMogMiner (no longer works for Mojang) were all involved in the modding community in one way or another before the started working for Mojang. And for the 1.6 Horse update, Mojang asked the creator of Mo'Creatures, DrZhark, if they could use his mod as a base for their own horses.
Yeah, this is why I thought Mojang should be hiring.
What I was trying to bring over is that Mojang has always brought in fres blood if they needed it. I guess they can handle it by themselves just fine at the moment.
Yes, but MC is a growing community. On behalf of everyone, I think we need our updates more then once a year.
1. This isn't really our decision. I mean, yeah, Mojang might see this, but it still doesn't matter if we support this or not.
2. Modders specialize in changing the game. Adding things to give it a different feel. I think that having modders wouldn't be bad, but I personally wouldn't want them making decisions, because they all have different views of a "good" game, and might kind of change it for the worse.
Updates take so long because Mojang are also optimizing the spaghetti code a lot.
Notch left the game in a state similarly to spaghetti cooked without oil after all, so it makes sense that all of their optimization makes updates take longer.
It's an Indie game. You can't have thousands of people working on it.
Yes, but wouldn't a bigger team mean bigger community, bigger updates. Don't you think that if Minecraft had a bigger team, they would've already implemented Optifine into the game? Don't you think if there was a bigger team, there could be a Mojang employee who would search the forums for better things to add.
Updates are getting less frequent because of how big updates get and how the code is severely unoptimized and being rewritten.
More people doesn't necessarily mean more frequent updates. A quality update takes time to make, especially ones that attempt to fix lag and overhaul combat and exploration.
Yes, but don't you think that Mojang could make a program like MCreator to easily add things to Minecraft and would auto iron out bugs.

Adding items is trivial. Making those items DO things is not. You can't just make something to "auto iron out bugs". That is vastly misguided thinking.

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
I don't play a lot of other games but perhaps you could fill me in on what other games with code this old are doing frequent updates and hiring new people all the time to work on said "old code".
I know the title is weird but here me out.

Mojang should hire modders.
They would model and help add things to the game.
Do YOU Support?
This would be more Mojang's decision than ours. Anyways, they do great considering the small amount of staff.
This isn't out decision to make

No, they should hire very professional Java game developers rather than modders, because that probably means their mods will have to be discontinued.
STOP MOD REPOSTS!!!
