So my computer crashed and there's no clear way to get it running again. I spent three months working on many projects and I kind of don't want them to be deleted. I was thinking maybe Minecraft could have a saves server for each individual player and their creations, in case their computer does like mine did and those people don't want to have to start from scratch.
If your entire computer crashed, won't your backups on that same computer be just as lost as the initial files?

Not if it was saved to a server and not just the computer itself.
The Minecraft people have a gigantic list of everyone registered, under each registration it could have a list of files saved by each individual. Which automatically uploads to the server as with the computer when the person is done with their session. That way if you computer did crash, you could purchase a new one and not have anything to worry about.

"The Minecraft people" are actually called Mojang. Having a database of registered users isn't exactly the same as extra cloud file hosting, which could get expensive or at the very least just very busy due to so many users having their files backed up constantly. And what's that about "purchasing"? Just save your money and manually back your stuff up.

I mean just back the saves up to the registered users. I don't think it would be that hard to do.
Things don't work the way you think they do. They cannot just change the profile database to have "room for saves", the database does not act as cloud storage, it acts as one huge array of data for all registered accounts. They'd need to host a file server which would contain the saves for each individual player. Which will get expensive considering millions of people have registered accounts.
Saves are also quite large and can get large as the world gets explored more. Some saves are gigabytes in size. Multiply the average size of a save by a couple million, and then multiply that by a number (considering you suggested multiple saves per user) and that's how much data Mojang would have to store. And someone's already pointed this out, the server would be flooded with traffic considering users would constantly move saves back and forth.
No support. If you have issues backing up, this is on you. You should know to store important files on more than one location, get an external drive or a USB flash drive and put the save on that. Mojang doesn't need to, nor has the ability to, store saves for all users.

Okay so yall are against this idea because.... Why?
No one appears to be listening. A database is literally a folder of registered users. Mojang consits of programmers. They form this update which automatically applies to all accounts where saves are automatically backed up to ONE folder under each user.
Idk why it's really that hard to fathom how it works.
A computer which has shared users has a folder of those users. Correct? Under each of those is that users own stuff which differs entirely or similarly from your stuff.
I don't see at what point this would be difficult to make work.
Think of it this way: as an example, my saves folder is about 200 megs. For arguments' sake, call that the average size for all users. There are around 20,000,000 PC users. 20,000,000 users times 200 megs each is 4,000,000,000 megabytes, which is...about 40 petabytes? Somebody correct my math, but that's a ridiculous and unmanageable amount of storage, both resource-wise and money-wise. It can't be done.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. I will face my fear. I will let it pass over me and through me, and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
It would take up FAR too much data on their servers. Get a cheap flash drive and back up to that manually every once in a while, I don't feel that this is needed.
Setting up more than twenty million servers costs a lot of money, and a database wouldn't be able to handle this sort of thing. You are asking for a database that is updated every single time you pause a game, create a game, or delete a game. Keeping track of usernames, passwords, and skins is one thing, but keeping track of millions of worlds is another thing. What you are asking for is impractical, and most likely impossible; when it comes to technology, not everything is possible.
You could instead download Dropbox (or something alike), and move you world data into it (you'd have to mess with the game directory a bit, though). Another issue would be that even if this feature is implemented, it won't help you with your current issue. Mojang can't access your crashed computer in order to back up your saves. Instead, I suggest looking into learning about some methods of recovering data from your old hard drive.
it would be an extreme amount of data to save. some people like myself build giant castles or start up new games to goof around in that won't be missed. that could be a few gigabytes per user.. times 20.000.000 players. it's an excessive amount of data that mojang can't handle
you can't ask mojang to take the responsibility of your saves in case your computer crashes
a paid service, perhaps? the idea isn't totally lost and is salvageable. like mc reams, players could pay per month / per world / per gigabyte or such for mojang to back up their save when they press, for example, a button in the game menu that says "back up save."
but I'd imagine the price would be pretty high because they wouldn't want to waste the time taking care of thousands of worlds and not turn at least some coin after the prices have been negotiated. not a bad idea if it'd be a paid service, honestly.
You just simply back your stuff up. Get an external storage device, copy your worlds there, and do regular backups like I do on PE (what I do for PE is copy my worlds to my SD card). There is no reason to have cloud storage, since you can do regular manual backups.

And the peoples voice has been heard. Thanks for the input everyone! Just thought it would be a good idea that could work. Oh well. Gonna try and get it fixed at a computer repair place.
@the person who mentioned java script arrays wouldn't it do an auto-detect and create for players and their saves? Each player would have a unique code as would their saves. Like for instance
Player1: CD2P1Green1P2DC Player1 save (Green1P2CD)
Player2: JKL1YRECTANGLEY1LKJ Player2 save (RectangleY1LKJ)
You could just use a Dropbox or other storage site, as said above. Or you could just save the files on a flash drive, they cost 15 dollars in most stores.

Just manually back it up some times.
Just buy a cheap flash drive, locate your saves folder, then convert it to a .zip file, then copy it to the flash drive.
Easy
Sorry, but this is kinda unnecessary.
