I sometimes find that vanilla Minecraft lacks some good weapons. Sure, you have a sword for melee, you have a bow for longer range, but that's it. I think there should be more weapons, so PvP isn't so bland. Here are some of my ideas, feel free to add some more ideas or to suggest more improvements.
An important note: For weapons that use different ammunition, you select an ammunition from your inventory. When that stack of ammunition is emptied, or an unshootable ammo is selected, it goes to the next usable ammunition type to the right.
1. Homing Arrow:
An arrow that will curve slightly toward the mob closest to where the arrow will land. A shapeless recipe crafted with an arrow and 1 piece of Redstone. For those who think this is OP, it would never turn more than 2-3 blocks at the long distances, so it remains fairly balanced.
Also, endermen will never be targeted and neutral mobs will have a lower targeting priority in order to not accidentally anger a mob.
2. Volatile Arrow:
An arrow that when it hits an object will deal an increased knockback. A shapeless recipe crafted with an arrow and one piece of gunpowder. It will not explode!
1. Refined bow:
Can fire a splash potion or a fire charge with extra power, some 12 or so blocks. Crafted with a bow with iron above, below, to the right, and gold on the bottom. Fire charges won't explode, but will light enemies on fire and do damage. Splash potions will inflict a little damage as well, and will also inflict their potion effect.
2. Repellant bow:
When an arrow is fired, the enemy hit would receive some knock-back, depending on the distance they are. e.g.; 8 or less blocks away, 2 blocks back, 9-14 blocks away, 1.5 knockback, 15 or more blocks away, 0.5 knockback. Crafted with a bow, gold on top, Redstone on right and left, iron on bottom Being Editted
1. Alchemic Sword:
An interesting sword, because a potion may be selected for ammo. When selected, the sword will have a 5% chance to inflict the potion effect. Damage caused by the sword is reduced by half a heart though. Crafted with a sword with a ghast tear above, and nether wart on the right, left, and below.
2. Slashing Swords:
This sword is special, because if many enemies are nearby (more than 2 enemies within 3 blocks), this sword will select an enemy along with another nearby enemy to inflict damage upon. The damage for each enemy is half a heart less than the sword's original damage. Crafted with a sword on the left, a sword on the right (of the same material) and the swords' material in the middle.
This wouldn't target your dogs, ocelots, and it would target neutral mobs at a lower priority.
Well congrats on your first post, but there are some obvious and fatal flaws in this thread.
First off, please pleaseplease search the forum for similar ideas before you post, because I've seen a few threads that have suggested a few of the things here. These arrows are a bit bland and the idea of a bow that fires potions and fire charges is a bit preposterous. I know Minecraft is both Realistic and Unrealistic in ways, but there is a limit, and that is right on the edge.
Btw, there is an entire thread dedicated to making good suggestion threads if you haven't seen it already. Always a good thing to go over because you never know if you might find something that helps your improve!
Never ever, ever, ever put "Not OP" in your thread title. You never know when someone could prove that wrong. The names of some of these things just scream overpowered. Honestly, I'd remove that from your title like right now.
I can't see a multiple arrow types system ever working in Minecraft or having a good reason to be there since we have enchantments to cover that sort of thing, and potions too. Having more bows and swords is even more senseless, because it makes things redundant and... again, potions and enchantments already alter what bows can do.
You can effortlessly spam arrows at mobs without them noticing you, so slapping potion effects on arrows is just too much. Overall, these are just redundant and some are pure unbalanced upgrades.
Also, things like arrows that travel farther but do less (and the opposite of that) is nothing more than uninteresting, boring scale-tipping.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
We need more variety, but this thread itself needs a lot of tweaking before I can say it fits what I think would be good for more variety of weapons, ammo and etc.
A homing arrow is also known as an aimbot (which is sometimes used as a hack), which can be very unfair during PvP. The punch enchanment already does enough knockback damage to keep mobs/enemies away from you, so we don't really need another knockback use for arrows. I don't see how the weigheted Arrow is "balanced" in any way. It is OP, and it can be used if you get close to a mob/enemy. Golden Arrow does not have much detail, it sounds exactly like any other normal arrow, please give more information about this type of arrow.
The smoky bow sounds confusing. "If it was hit with an enemy, it would cause blindness. And if it was a player it would stun them. If it was a mob, for 1 seconds". This sentence which I quoted makes no sense to me, and I am sure other members would not be able to understand as well. All I know (for now) is that is causes blindess, thats it.
For both, the Alchemic Sword, and Slashing sword, I am confused by what means "reduced to half a heart". Does this mean that you take half a heart of damage? Or is an opponent's health reduced to half a heart? Correct me if I am wrong by your sentence, but this is OP.

Can you tell me what's op and why? On the other side, how do you edit the thread name?
You can be at a distance where a hostile mob can't even see you, and you can put 2-3 arrows in them and they're done for with little effort. Your homing arrows make an effortless job even more effortless because these arrows just magnetize to the target (and kinda ruin the point of aiming with the bow in the first place).
There's absolutely no need for an arrow or this repellent bow that does increased knockback, because the "Punch" enchantment takes care of that.
The refined bow is purely overpowered. In a sense, it makes throwing splash potions a completely useless feature. Now you've combined area effect potions and long range. That's too much.
The alchemist sword kind of muddles up the individual balance that Minecraft has for weapons. Sword = short range; Bows = long range, but it takes time to charge; Splash potions = medium range with area effect. And then there's your alchemist sword, it takes two of those factors and mashes them into one. If we didn't have enchantments for swords, then maybe I could support putting potions on them.
Your slashing sword has the potential of hurting nearby mobs we might not want to hurt.
On the other side, how do you edit the thread name?
In the top right somewhere, the option might just say "Edit Thread". You may have to activate a drop down menu first.

Your homing arrows make an effortless job even more effortless because these arrows just magnetize to the target (and kinda ruin the point of aiming with the bow in the first place). It would only shift 2-3 blocks at the very farthest distances. If the mob is just out of range, it would only shift half a block to a full block.
There's absolutely no need for an arrow or this repellent bow that does increased knockback, because the "Punch" enchantment takes care of that. Thanks, that's a good point. Now, should I remove it or do you have a replacement idea?
Refined bow is purely overpowered. In a sense, it makes throwing splash potions a completely useless feature. Now you've combined area effect potions and long range. That's too much. The reason I added this; Now you can throw a splash potion without hitting yourself. It wouldn't go so far as to be able to be used as a weapon. Also, potions would be weak. (half a heart or a heart) Minecraft has four weapons. Sword = short range; Bows = long range, but it takes time to charge; Splash potions = medium range with area effect. And then there's your alchemist sword, it takes two of those factors and mashes them into one. If we didn't have enchantments for swords, then maybe I could support putting potions on them. This is, again, so that you don't hit yourself with your own potions. Besides, the percentage chance to cause a potion effect would only be 10%. If you want me to lower, say so, because I'm open to feedback.
Your slashing sword has the potential of hurting nearby mobs we might not want to hurt.
In the top right somewhere, the option might just say "Edit Thread". You may have to activate a drop down menu first. Thanks. About the slashing sword, it just wouldn't target any mobs friendly to you. Also, it wouldn't target neutral mobs at first priority. (like the homing arrows)
It would only shift 2-3 blocks at the very farthest distances. If the mob is just out of range, it would only shift half a block to a full block.
Regardless of how you tweak the stats, it still comes down to making easy arrow spam even easier, which is purely unnecessary and accomplishes nothing more than muddying up balance. I'm sure homing arrows in PvP would be an angering turn off.
Thanks, that's a good point. Now, should I remove it or do you have a replacement idea?
I'd say removing the idea overall would be best. Repelling bows/arrows would be nothing more than a copycat feature.
he reason I added this; Now you can throw a splash potion without hitting yourself. It wouldn't go so far as to be able to be used as a weapon. Also, potions would be weak. (half a heart or a heart)
The possibility of hitting yourself with a potion is a tradeoff - an intended con, and not some programming accident. Splash potions give you the benefit of affecting many players/mobs at once, along with the downside of being a mid-range weapon where you can catch yourself in the radius if you aren't careful. Your idea almost breaks the balance of this by making it way more positive than negative, which is the recipe for an idea being overpowered.
Sure, you can nerf these arrow potions, but it doesn't change the fact that you're combining two extremely useful methods of attacking into a single beefy one. So now we're taking the easiness of arrow spam and throwing potion effects on it. Even if these arrow potions were the most balanced things in the world, there's no need in programming such a feature because the behavior of an arrow can be altered with enchantments.
hanks. About the slashing sword, it just wouldn't target any mobs friendly to you. Also, it wouldn't target neutral mobs at first priority. (like the homing arrows)
Fair enough. This one isn't horrible, but can't this be an enchantment? Why does this require an entirely new kind of sword?

No support.
They are not enchantments, they are suggestions to have special ammo and ammo capabilities.
