Hey. The other day, I was screwing around with the banners and how you can customize them and was like "wouldn't it be cool if you could customize paintings as well?" So here are a couple ideas I thought of on the spot. I'm open for suggestions as well.
Easel: Since paintings can potentially be pretty big, a new crafting station would be useful. It would likely involve sticks and paper, and maybe some wooden planks to create it.
Crafting: You would basically be presented with a couple different grids representing the painting sizes. You would be able to choose how big you want your cursor to be, so you could do it pixel by pixel or in five by five squares.
Dye Usage: Since paintings can be so big, I'm not entirely to sure how much of your dye would be taken. It might be like every 5-10 pixels a dye is taken, or something like that.
Profanity: Due to the fact that some people are more immature than others, a couple people are going to create some rather rude and offensive things. In my knowledge, there is no way to stop this. This is an easy reason why custom paintings shouldn't be added. Although, a fix for servers would be making the item unobtainable.
That's just about it. Some of you might be saying that this should just be a mod. But in my defense, if were getting a new customizable aesthetic item, why shouldn't we make an older aesthetic item customizable?

I love how the EO battle themes go on for a couple of minutes like normal and then after a while they are just like 'Ah nobody's going to be in a normal battle for this long anyway, fack it, GUITAR SOLOS!' Cracks me up.

We can currently make custom paintings - they are called maps. They are about the craziest most time consuming thing to make in the game right now. However, the fact that some people go to this extreme means people would be interested in this.
It would also be nice to be able to make marks on maps, treasure map anyone?

This isn't really necessary, as the same argument applies to placing blocks at all
As for the suggestion itself, I rather like it, but the dye cost shouldn't be so heavy. After all, it is just an aesthetic thing, and some dyes, like lapis and ink sacs to a certain extent, are rather expensive (in the sense that they are fairly limited and have more useful uses).

Anyway, overall I like the idea. Support.
