Monster mode is fun for an survival mode, but it kind of removes the creepiness. Because monsters are so prevalent underground its very easy to move into a repetative "move, block area, light, repeat" pattern. And peaceful has all the fun of moving through vast underground chasms in largely the dark, not needing to dump torches everywhere...BUT I would like the very rare monster to appear, however to be rare enough I don't need to spam torches.
Perhaps something as similar as "only dungeons make monsters", or such a rare spawn level outside of dungeons that I could go two nights topside and see no monster. And when I do see a monster I may be far more alarmed because I probably don't have any armour or weapons ready.
Just a personal wish, I expect 95% of people wouldn't like it.. BUT it if it was implemented as part of a sliding scale of monster spawning (ie, rather than modes players just set a % or number, Ie, if you put 100% then monsters spawn all the time, even in the light while if you put 1% then it would be the rare situation I am talking about and 0% would be peaceful.
