I used to be Team Iceologer but now I have joined the Glow Squid Gang! I would like to hear everyone's insights on my perspective laid out in my video! Due not this was my first time trying to fully make a video from a script. I want to know if I got you to switch to Glow Squid supremacy <3
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
The phantom was not hated because it was hostile. It was hated because it was a completely unneeded addition that didn't actually do anything but add incentive to sleep, which was already present because sleeping lets you skip THE MOST DANGEROUS TIME IN THE ENTIRE GAME! As a result, most people who originally wanted to sleep kept doing so and had no problems, while anyone who wanted to stay up during the night had to deal with phantoms and started raging. If there was a hostile mob that actually added something to the game that wasn't pure annoyance, I would have gladly voted for it and liked the result.
The Minecraft community is not fully represented by the feedback site, especially since it is not designed very well and breaks a lot (I couldn't post anything there for months until I got a new router). I've seen many more hostile mob suggestions on this forum itself as well as r/mcsuggestions on Reddit. While you do have a point about speed runs, speedrunners are nowhere near the majority of the player base, and it is not particularly likely that the moobloom would be obtrusive at all. It lacks variation, but it's much better than the squid, which doesn't add any variation but visual. I would have been fine if the Moobloom won, even though I personally voted for iceologer.
Also, you speak of obtrusiveness as if it's the only factor in deciding what you want. There are other factors, such as what the mob will actually BRING to the game. In the case of the squid, that is literally nothing. I'd rather have a hostile mob than a mob that does absolutely nothing at all. The squid won't change anything about the game, because Nothing never does anything.
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.
