Mine-Imator is an animation program created by David Norgren, in Gamemaker, intended to be a program to easily animate Minecraft animations. It's always had a, shall we say, negative response from other members of the animation community. Blender users, C4D users, and the like all look down on Mine-Imator, seeing it as a basic, cheap animation program with no real challenge.
And every Mine-Imator user will admit, before two years ago, Mine-Imator did suck. We didn't have shadows, we were missing most blocks and items from the game, and animating smoothly and effectively was hard. The Mine-Imator community was filled with young people who wanted to create animations after watching Slamacow and Dig Build Live, but didn't understand how to animate. Thus Youtube is filled with hndreds of poorly-made animations. This greatly damaged Mine-Imator's reputation.
Now, two years later, Mine-Imator has just been updated to version 1.0.0. Over the past couple of years, the program has seen some incredibly drastic changes, from shadows, to smoother animations, to better graphics and animation quality. It has become one of the best animation programs for creating Minecraft videos out there. When used properly, it can rival the graphics of Blender and C4D.
However, the reputation of Mine-Imator has not improved. As the program has evolved, the popularity has seemingly stayed still. Every Mine-Imator user I know has gotten comments asking 'Why do you use Mine-Imator? Why not some other program?'
Yes, Mine-Imator has bad animators. But so does every other animation program. Yes, Mine-Imator can be glitchy, but so can every other animation program. Yes, Mine-Imator can look absolutely terrible. But so can every other animation program.
My goal with this collaboration video was to prove to the haters that Mine-Imator does not suck anymore. But why are you taking my word for it? Go watch the video.
