Minecraft has a Farlands, that can only be accessed in Beta 1.7.3 or lower.
But Minecraft has a a Nearlands! I found it in version 1.8.1.
And it is psychedelic!
Here's a video of it:
I loaded a new world for some testing in version 1.8
I recorded what I needed and left for another world, to record that.
I came back to this world in version 1.81
I don't see well, so I couldn't see how many chunks I slid the option up.
I closed the options menu and all madness broke loose.
I am stationary, at ground level. I don't adjust my x or z coordinates, only the y, and only above ground, never below.
I am not near the distant village or desert temple.
I am nowhere near the abandoned mine.
The moon appears to have nearly set three times, but the sun never rose.
