This is not a glitch. I watched the video many times to check, and each time you placed a ladder, you actually placed 2. This happens because when you were going up, you actually right clicked the same block multiple times. This resulted in the game placing the ladder on the block behind you as well as in front of you.
Sorry, it's not infinite ladders. Its just you losing your ladders twice as fast.

But I started with 2 stacks of ladder and ended up with 4 stacks. I think it works.
