I saw impulseSV's video of his zombie pigmen gold farm and started to build it myself, though I changed the design to use item hoppers(13w05a).

Drops about 3500 gold nuggets/hour
which is a little more then 6 stacks of gold ingots/hour.

I built this legit on a vanilla survival server.

This was made in Minecraft version 13w05a
