Hi everyone, I am looking for a good, high-quality, no-lag screen recorder.
I've been trying to find one for a while and I always went back to the built-in screen recorder in Windows 10, which I've had many problems with, such as low quality, lag, etc.
I average around 40-60 FPS and using software such as OBS makes my game lag A LOT.
I've tried everything from Action (which isn't free) to Bandicam (has an annoying watermark) and I can't find a perfect one.
I need a software that can record at 60 FPS, good quality, doesn't make my game lag, and obviously free.
How much RAM (memory, not hard drive space) does it have?
What processor does it have?
What video card does it have?
Your bottleneck is possibly in the amount of RAM that you have in your computer. Anything under 8 GB is probably never going to work properly.
A good video card is quite helpful as well. If you have an NVidia card (some of them at least) you can off-load the encoding process to the NVidia encoder and let the GPU do the work.
OBS is a fantastic option for a free video capture software. But without the proper hardware for it to run on, your results aren't going to be that good.
As others have said, OBS is your best bet. FRAPS is good too, except for its ridiculous file sizes.
But if the default Win10 screen recorder is giving you trouble, you'd be better off upgrading your system to something that can actually record gameplay.
Im more surprised no one has mentioned Shadowplay. If you have an Nvidia card, that is hands down the best option since it is literally made by Nvidia to take advantage of the GPU.

I believe no screen recorder could guarantee you a lag-free screen capture, cos whether there's lag with frame drop or not depends on not only screen recording app, but also your gaming, your hardware. In some cases, with lower video parameter or hardware accelerated encoder, the lag may be reduced or disappear. But still in many cases, when your PC is not so powerful, there's nothing to get rid of this laggy capture problem unless you level it up or turn to a capture card or another machine to initiate the recording. if the windows 10 screen recorder lags your game, any recorder will.

I agree with Lloyd OBS is a really good video recorder.
I've heard that in-game FPS while using OBS can be different if you set it for "display capture" or "window capture" or "game capture".
