Have been fighting with Dxtory for months now. Tried several other recording programs that work much better, but still not perfectly. If I could fix the extremely low fps problem it would be perfect.
System Specs: i5-3570k overclocked to 4.4Ghz, h100i CPU cooler, dual GTX 780s, asrock extreme 4 mobo, windows 8.1 64bit. Recording to a Kingston SSD at 300MB/s+. Tested on most versions of Minecraft from early alpha to 1.8.1 pre 2. Tested with multiple version of java. 1.7-1.8, 32 and 64bit. Tried every codec including the Lagarith Lossless Codec.
It has been this way since I started using Dxtory. No matter what codec I use, no matter the scaling I use, it always has an extreme hit on my frame rate. I can turn my render distance down to tiny and every detail off, but it still limits me at 22fps at most. I do not have Dxtory set to limit my fps.
From my research and understanding, it should cause no where near this big of a hit on my system. From my monitoring, my CPU maxes out around 45% while recording and playing with multiple other programs running.
Any insight is appreciated.
The recording program I have been using lately is Nvidia's Shadow play. Since I have dual GTX780s I get an amazing framerate. But the problem with it is it causes extreme mouse jumps while playing.
Do you have the fps capped? Im on a good laptop butnot meant for gaming and i get around 40- 50 fps whilst recording.
Do you have a custom codec installed? http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/ download this and install it... it should help, if not get back to me
Thanks for the reply. I'll reply to your questions in order.
No, I don't have it set lock the frame rate. I have it set to record at 30fps and to not synchronize video FPS.
Only 3rd party coded I have installed is the Lagarith Lossless Codec. Plus the Fraps and Dvix ones.
I tried that codec out, the H.264 one, and it's even worse. At most I can record at 8fps, but mostly at 6-7.
No clue why my computer is doing this to me. I'm really frustrated becuase from what I can tell I should have 0 problems with frame rate issues. I'm not saying I have a super computer, but it's very fast.
