I have been trying to make Minecraft Videos recently but I just CAN'T find a screen recorder that doesn't lag REALLY bad. I mean, I've tried screen recording software that other people say work fine for THEM, but when I try them, the LAG SO BAD! I don't know if it's my computer, I'm on a mac, and I usually run Minecraft at about 30 fps, and I just want a screen recorder that can keep up with the fps rate, because ALL of the ones I try fail miserably. Also, I would like to know how to check how much RAM my computer has. I'm wondering if maybe my computer does't have enough RAM to support these screen recording software. I see Minecraft videos on You-tube all the time, and most of the people who record them have NO LAG whatsoever, and when I try to use this $100 software I got called "Camtasia" I lag WAY more than usual. I'm just wondering what's going on. So, if anyone has any helpful suggestions about what screen recorder to use, or how to make it so the ones I have lag less, please comment!
I use the Quicktime Screen Recorder that comes with the mac, and I have no lag problems.
I also use that and it never lags. The only complaint I have with Quicktime on the Mac is that the video appears a bit darker when you re-watch it. Other than that, it's free and already built in. I recorded my audio with it also and then edited it together in iMovie for my first Let's Play series.
If you'd like to see an example of it, here's the link to episode 1:
To check your ram click the apple on the top left, then about this mac. Where it says "Memory" it should say like, 2GB or something. If your're only running at 30 fps, odds are whatever recorder your gonna use is gonna drop you down to at least 25fps. So, as far as screen recorders go, screenflow and screenium are the best ways to go. Neither are free as far as I know.
Ok thanks for the replies so far. Quicktime player runs, like, 1 fps for me so I'm thinking that the problem is the amount of RAM in my computer. I was thinking of buying a RAM card and making it 8 RAM. Would that help the screen recording at all?
Screenflow worked the best for me when I had my mac. I have an Alienwarew X51 (windows 7) now. Works MUCH BETTER! I got fraps, no lag, check out my youtube channel.

when I use the quicktime screen recorder for the first time, it wouldn't close, nor could I make another, so, I searched the forums. this is the furthest Ive gotten so far. could you please help me if you know how to fix this problem? please? anyone?
The RAM really does not matter. What year computer do you have? To find out how much RAM you have, go to the apple in the top left, and click "About This Mac".
Also, what you really need is a faster processor. I recommend TekServe. They might be able to boost your computer's speed.
Whenever I try to use Quicktime, the video comes out terribly because the WHOLE time, the screen spazzes seizure flashes of blue emptyness every second. Help?

Thanks!
But I don't know if that lags or not while playing Minecraft. I don't have any problems with it.
And I hear Screencast-O-Matic is awesome, but I've never used it nor do I have it: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/
It's free, unlike Snagit, but to remove the dumb watermark you have to pay for the full version
Hope this helps!
