Playing minecraft even on the lowest settings - I LAG BAD. What could be causing this? I doubt it's java, because playing games in java don't even lag me the slightest. I updated to the newest java and reinstalled minecraft. Even on lowest settings, nothing else open, and on tiny. I still get like 2fps. At first everything is fine.. But after a few seconds/minutes.. Boom. 1-2fps. Sometimes even causes minecraft to freeze/go unresponsive.

Novicode's answer about Java is the only thing I can honestly think of... at least it's the most likely possibility (I recommend running both 32-bit AND 64-bit java, since they both can be installed at once, and while your windows installation likely has 32 and 64-bit IE, but defaults to 32-bit usually - there's a lot of browsers that are still 32-bit only) - but yea, you have to actively install the 64-bit one manually if your browser was defaulted to 32-bit (as most are).
The longshot answer, that probably isn't what's up, is your system's optimization, it may be trying to save power to use an onboard video (if there's one on the mobo you have)... it's still recommended that you set your power settings to high performance (ie turn off power saving options). The power saving tools are mainly for more traditional PC use.
It auto'd 32 bit java, but minecraft it gives you a red message saying of playing on far it should be 64 bit. but even on lowest settings, nothing else open, and on tiny. I still get like 2fps. There really isn't a single thing I can think of that would be outright causing the symptoms besides that or power settings... there are no conflicts with your hardware choices that I'm aware of, and it is all more than capable of running it at decent framerates.
Well I downloaded 64 also, still gave me problems. So I deleted 32 and 64 and everything java. And only reinstalled 64. It seems to be working now! So far.. I'll let you know if I get anymore problems.
The solution is simple, reinstall minecraft. Get all of your saves, resource packs, etc. onto a backup folder and then delete Minecraft COMPLETELY, then re-download it. When Minecraft becomes absurdly buggy, that's usually the fix.
Honestly no idea why that works, but hey, it does. Let's not question it.

Alas, my friend, you have planted yourself right next to death itself! How's that for a 'peaceful state?'
1st Solution
Close all programs, programs also cause lag, like internet browsers
2nd Solution
Ignore if you have tried this v
