Honestly in my opinion they're useless for Minecraft videos unless you're doing something like Do Not Laugh w/ your friends where your facial expressions are ridiculously funny. People get kinda bored staring at you with a serious face mining for 20 minutes. For example Pewdiepie uses facecam because he makes hilarious facial expressions in his videos.

I can agree that using a facecam while playing minecraft can be useless but at the same time it can also be a way to engage your audience while the stuff you are doing in the video or stream maybe a little boring. I am personally don't like or want to do facecams but I have had viewers and subs as well as other youtubers tell me I should do them. I started this thread for everyone to share their opinion on the matter so that anyone debating on doing facecams could come here for insight.
Don't get me wrong, facecams are really cool but sometimes I get really freaked out when I'm watching a video and then see erm..... someone's 'beautiful'' face. Like don't get me wrong I'm not that kind of guy who judges people in terms of looks but it can be a bit off-putting at times.
Although I completely agree with you on the engaging audience thing.
Yup totally agree w/ that. But I don't think you should put facecam for a vanilla Minecraft mining episode.
Honestly I wouldn't post a mining episode unless I had something important to talk about in the first place it was just the first example that came to mind.

I do agree on some of the videos I have seen the facecam is way to big on the screen and can obstruct the view of the viewers of what is going on.
