@Criticalbrit: This thread is intended mainly for minecraft let's plays, but I can offer a couple things about this video. First off, the intro is kind of neat, but is MonologyMS your name or just the website? It's not apparent off the bat who exactly is talking, mainly because you don't introduce yourselves. So we as an audience only know you as voice 1, voice 2. Doesn't really build your brand or recognition.
Prop hunt is one of those things that's waaaay more fun to play than to watch. The only reason (in my opinion) that people watch videos of prop hunt is because they're watching for the personalities who are playing, think Guude or Oldmanwillakers. Besides that, those videos typically include at least 4 or 5 people playing. It makes it much more exciting. This is just two dudes, so there's nothing really to see here that we haven't seen already, and it's less fun than actually playing it ourselves. This is an example of something that I would think twice about before posting to youtube. I'm sure the two of you had a lot of fun playing, but consider if it will really be fun for strangers to watch.
your feedback is very specific, glad you're doing this. As for the video, I realize it's not an lp, but It'll be a bit before I post one of those. Probably a week or so. In the mean time, I wanted feedback regardless, so I thought i might as well post a video now
@Jaden: Nice intro and ending, very polished and bookends the video really well. I don't know a whole lot about plot tours but as far as speaking goes, there were a few times where I couldn't quite make out what you were saying, especially the times when you said something aside and slightly under your breath. There are 2 ways to fix this. 1: Speak up next time and just be sure to clearly enunciate, and/or 2: Add compression to the narration audio so that the parts where your voice is quieter will be boosted to match the rest of the talking. This can be done pretty easily in audacity, and I highly recommend it. The downside is that this may also boost the general background noise like the keyboard, mouse, fans, etc so some noise removal may also be a good idea.
Other than that there's not too much to say. I think you could have slowed the pace down just a tad to let us savor the atmosphere a bit more, but the video was a nice length and you showed everything clearly.

Hey, its been a while since I, or a matter of fact anyone, have posted on this thread. I was wonder, if you see this, if you could tell me if I've improved since the last time I posted here. Thanks!
The vocal presentation is extremely incoherent, and heavily distorted when there is shouting. This is never a good thing, and I would suggest taking serious steps to correct this.
The visual presentation is ruined by the large FOV. An easy fix really, and well worth doing.
It is very difficult to see where one game ends and another starts. Although your regular viewers may recognize the individual games/videos, it would have probably been a good idea to include some text and/or a transition between them.
On a more positive note, it does seem like you're having fun, and not 'faking it'. I think this is generally appreciated by viewers.
Overall, it seems like you have made a video for you and your friends, but with little consideration for an audience in general.
I guess this critique comes across harshly, though I hope it's objective enough and is of some help to you.
@FatherUnicornMC: Yeah man I think you've improved quite a bit! Book-ending the video with intro/outro music was a nice touch, you might consider adding some branding or logo graphics at the beginning and ends of your videos to solidify your "brand" (basically your youtube name) with the video.
In general, when you're starting out on youtube it's better to go with shorter videos, about 10-15 minutes. Longer videos tend to dissuade potential viewers if you aren't established yet. Keep thinking about what can be edited out (both with video editing software, planning, and staying on track) to keep the pace brisk and engaging. This is my personal opinion, but I think that a lot of repetitive building, like repeating patterns, covering large areas in one block type, etc. are things that the viewers understand quickly and therefore don't need/want to see too much of. If you have a pattern you want to show that's fine, but repeating it over and over again can get boring quickly.
Don't be afraid to come up with a script! You don't even have to follow it once you write it, but the simple act of putting your thoughts on paper will solidify the ideas in your mind and may help you come up with other ideas.
Hey guys, to be honest, i'm relativly new because of lack of practice, but I believe i'm getting a better grasp on what to do, since i'm new i'd like some
criticism about how i'm doing, i dont have any skills with video editing, so please excuse me a bit on that part...
This series is also relatively a new thing, and is based on a topic on these forums, (Link in video description) Known as the Expansionist challenge.
If it's also ok and if you have enough time can you tell me if i've improved from older videos?
Here's the link:
The main voice (Farland1ng) is pretty good, though has a little reverb on it, though the other two voices are fairly inaudible, and have heavy reverb.
The game audio is far too loud compared to the main voice.
There is a fair bit of mouse/keyboard noise.
The visual quality is fine, though the low render distance does degrade the presentation a bit.
The darkness is a major problem - very little can be seen when outside, and nothing is visible when inside.
There does seem to be a nice dynamic between yourselves, and you all seem to be genuinely having fun, but I feel the lack of audience engagement does not help a viewer share in your enjoyment.
It's slightly confusing that there seems to be 3 people talking, yet only Farland1ng and GamingDiscoveryFilms are mentioned - it's not particularly clear who Kmarble14 or Shadowfury333 actually are.
The ending of the video is very abrupt.
Most of the technical issues I've raised should be easily corrected with some editing, so not really a big deal in the long term.
Overall, I'd suggest reflecting on the fact that making a video for an audience (of strangers) requires more than just enjoying it yourself.
Perhaps think about whether you would watch/enjoy this video if it was made by people you didn't know.
Hope this critique is of some use to you - good luck
Thanks for your critique, What's funny though is that I've already recorded another episode, before I posted this, so i'll only upload one for progress then i'll take everything into account.
Thanks for your help!
Also you seem to post very randomly. I'd recommend sticking to a fix schedule preferably 1 video everyday.
Well, I'm still on school schedules so it's sortof random, and before I required administrator password to start the program, which made it inconvenient, but now I can record on a better schedule, most likely a video every 2 days.
Thank you very much! I am planning on using audacity to block out some of the keyboard noise. And by the way, I made the music, so I don't need to credit it.

1. Honestly you didn't need the intro since you practically covered all the points right at the start of the game.
2. The audio right at the start is very loud, so maybe turn that down a bit?
3. The game is really dark and you should increase the brightness.
4. The commentary itself is very entertaining and made me want more.
5. The quality is really good and I had no problems with that.

Nope.
I would mostly like some feedback on what equipment would be best for me, and a few things I should improve on audio and video wise. Thank you!
