I've had a channel for a while now, started to get into it a lot... My recorder now is decent (OBS) but the nitrate is pretty poor, and raising it makes Minecraft slow to the point where I can't really record anymore in good quality. Now, my computer isn't the best, but it's fairly new, runs Windows 8.1 no problem, can do mods and all that (not shaders unfortunately). My question is, what's a more "intermediate" recorder? Is the bitrate something a better recorder would fix, or would I have to get a better video card for better quality? (Or am I doing OBS wrong..?)
Here is something that I want to add to the guide:
Don't make excuses!
One of the biggest mistake is making excuses, such as:
I don't know how to edit video.
My voice is not great.
I don't have time.
And other excuses, that make people quit from making videos. An advice that my friend gave me is, "Use the resources that are available in your hands." Honestly that was one of the greatest advice he gave to me. I mean, if I knew how to use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop, then why should I learn Blender (3D Animation)??? It looks cool, but is it necessary?
So really the first advice that I give to new people, include myself is:
Use the resources that are available to you.
Once you get past from, "learning curve" than you can start experimenting with new techniques or programs. For example, I am pretty comfortable in using Adobe Premiere Pro, now I am learning Adobe After Effects to add additional effects! Of course they are not perfect, but it helps me because I am making progress.
My second advice is, "Don't be harsh yourself":
Quality vs Quantity
When producing videos, don't expect to upload 7 videos a week; simply because it's unrealistic goal. If you don't have time in your hands, and have short time in your hands, you could do a live stream. And when you get free time, you could do a compilation of highlights of all your streams, so people can watch "That Moment!".
Therefore as BearKind mention regards, exposing your content in other media; this is great that you are getting your media exposed in: Live Streams (Twitch) and Highlights (YouTube). Make sure to include common and unique hashtags! Don't add misleading hashtags, or social media will think that your contents are considered as a spam!
My third advice is, which been mentioned; but I want to add it; Time Management:
Organize, Plan and Schedule
Those three words are common in our English vocabulary, but they are hard to master it! Even myself, trying to improve upon it.
Organize
You should always organize your files! Any pictures, videos and other resources; should be easily accessed through your computer. This is important for managing your time efficiently. If you own Adobe Premiere Pro, you do know the annoying feature which Premiere Pro tends to link your files from your computer, and if you move them around; it will corrupt and no longer be playable in Adobe Premiere Pro! So always make sure to keep keep your file organized!
Plan
Planning is important. What should your next video content be about? Planning ensures to keep up to date with your channel. Honestly, it is up to you; how you want to plan. Usually for me, I tend to put a sticky note on my computer and set a reminder on my phone. However this is my personal way in planning future contents for my channel.
Schedule
Are you busy, but still want to make videos? Honestly you can still make videos when busy, however if your community starts growing, you need to keep coming up with new contents, in order to keep your community happy! For example, SovietWomble only has weekends available to play;since he work during the weekdays! The community desperately is looking for him to make more videos! Again, you need to schedule how many videos you want to make, and schedule up.
For example for me:
Takes 1-2 hours to record a game content
Edit for about 3-4 hours
Rendering takes about 1 hour
Uploading video takes about 1 hour
So in total, I have 6-8 hours of my personal time that is required to dedicate just to make one video! That is why, I am re-scheduling my videos; so I can make sure that it satisfy my and the audience needs.
Hoping to see new channel to grow out! And best of luck to all of you.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I always wondered why did I learnt to code. But, I am too busy debugging.
Thanks for the tutorial!
Nice beginners guide to YouTube! Shame the YouTube button doesn't work anymore for newer channels that cannot get a channel name though :/
