Do you guys have any suggestions for how I can record my Minecraft videos with high quality and reduced lag? I also need audio, so any suggestions for quality voice recording would be great as well. Most importantly, any software I need to install or use needs to be FREE.

Well many people use fraps and this is a good place to start! however it all depends on you cpu specs as this will limit what you can and cant use, also if its an apple product or not will be a big difference since some programs are not compatible with apple, i use action! and this works perfect for me, it allows me to upload straight to youtube and in HD no less!
Audio:
this mainly depends on what type of mic you have and there are not many programs that will make it better or worse, however before you go and spend $150 on a headset just know that it doesn't take much to have good quality, i spent around $30 on mine and have had no complaints!
Side note:
good editing software is also key to having a successful channel! i would highly recommend you take time to make an intro and edit some sounds in, this will not only captivate someone browsing youtube but it will also keep them focused on watching your videos, after all lets face it who likes to sit there and hear anyone ramble about minecraft for 20 mins.....yyyea, so be sure and have comedy elements in your videos, lastly have fun! people feed off of energy from other people! if your having a blast playing the game, your veiwers will have a blast watching you
I'm going to be honest. Most free programs out there work terribly. Highly consider investing in a nice screen recording program. That is the essential to having nice videos, and you won't regret the dollars you put in to it. Konkon suggested a nice program for windows. If you use Apple, Screenflow is nice, and there are cheaper alternatives on the App Store.
For lag...
You can download a free mod called Optifine. Just google it. It helps make Minecraft quality better, raise up FPS, and overall makes a high quality game and video.
When I record, I also shut down my web browser, Skype, Spotify, etc. This helps my Minecraft work faster.
Good luck out there
Hopefully this was semi-helpful
Thanks for the suggestions. I've just installed optifine and it seems to help alot. As for softwares, I'm also trying to stretch my budget a little. Keep the suggestions coming.
