Hey, I am starting a new let's play channel on Youtube. Do you have any suggestions for someone starting out? I tend to slur my words together because I talk fast, do you have any tips on how to prevent that? Also, how many view should I expect on my first videos? Thank you in advanced.

Ether a heavily modded lets play or a server lets play. I personally find lets plays with 3-5 players much more entertaining then one person playing by themselves.

For slurring your words: Record 5 episodes of a test series. Never put them on Youtube. Do everything like you would put them up, but just leave them on your computer. Record, build, cut, edit, make intros and outros, and everything. Practice the steps. Once you've done an episode, listen to it before recording another one. Think of what to work on, etc. Is your mic to soft? Is your FPS too low? Camera blurry? Etc, just figure out all the problems you'll be having. Then it's time to start on a series that you plan on posting.
And now, THE TEXTWALL:
I feel like I'm spamming each time I post this, but I think it has value.
This is what I've observed. Sorry in advance for the huge wall of text.
Basically, the problem with most Let’s Plays I see in this section is that they are the same old thing. Youtube says there are About 17,500,000 results for Minecraft, and About 4,510 results for “Vanilla Minecraft Let’s Play Part 1” in the last 24 hours. (Granted, not all of them actually fit the bill. But even if only 1% of them fit the bill, and if you are in the top 99% of youtubers in terms of skill level at youtubing, then in a day there will be plenty more let's play series that are better than yours. That's what you are up against.) It seems to me that the most successful youtubers are the ones who do something that isn’t just the normal vanilla minecraft let’s play.
Now, let’s look at something more original. There are probably about 100 results for “Minecraft ICBM Mod War”, “Minecraft Cold War”, and “Minecraft Nuclear War” combined in the past week. Only about half are actually anywhere near what I’m searching for. There are probably a ton of duplicates too. Not much competition, but tons of demand.
If you do something new, that's what draws me in. Once you have viewers, you can sort of surf the wave upward. Here's some ideas.
- Modded server series featuring a storyline about an alien invasion and Minecraftia's desperate attempts to rally and defend itself. - A sky-pirate series using Metaworlds or archimedes’s ships or such with a crew of pirates taking on other vessels. Could be a storyline or a pvp map series. - A fake "company" in FTB. Each video would be advertising a specific product, from nuclear missile turtles to floating castles. - Two teams, ICBM mod installed. Cold war ensues. (The finale of that series will be fun) - Recreate popular games in Minecraft maps, from temple run to Skyrim. - Recreate battles in history using minecraft as a medium. - PVP battles on arenas you or your friends have made. Obviously don’t just play others maps, make your own! - Pig Grand Prix: Each episode, some players get together to do a new course of pig racing. From rainbow-road-esque highways to the nether, get your pig to the finish first. - A spy movie in minecraft. You could really take this any way you want, but if you had maybe 5 people to play the bad guys, you could do something really awesome with grappling hooks and air ducts. I don't know. - Build underwater, or in the sky, or entirely belowground, or something like that.
Basically, new things do better. "mai bestest survivl minecraft!" isn't that interesting to me anymore. In addition, do things that have value to you. If you hate redstone, don't even try to make a channel about redstone inventions. It just won't work. If you love PVP, work PVP into your series. Think about your favorite movies, tv shows, and books, and think about how you can translate the things you love about those works into minecraft.
For example, I love the feeling of a living world that fantasy and steampunk worlds convey, which translates well into minecraft. I love the idea of discovery, and air battles. If I was to do a let's play, it would be me and my friends as sky pirates, raiding the ships of the sky and becoming the most feared airmen to sail the air. In order to do that, I would need metaworlds mod or archimedes' ships or something, a group of friends, and people to raid. Then I'd start thinking about how I'd go about getting those things in order, etc. That's just me.
As you can probably tell, I'm a fan of roleplaying and scripts. But that doesn't mean you have to be. Maybe you would enjoy doing a let's play of a adventure map, or a mod review, or even make your own mods? I really don't know. Play to your strengths: If you are good at comedy, do comedy, and so on.
Don't seek to be the next yogscast, seek to be the next you.
Ugh. I forgot how bad this post was. I'll fix it up soon. I hope it at least makes some sense.

Here is my signature. If you like it, I am amazed.
This is kind of bold and blunt, but it has to be said.
You aren't going to become famous. It hurts to hear, but it's the truth. There are 10's of thousands of people trying at the same time as you. I know people say "anything is possible" but for YouTube, that isn't the case. It TRULY is about luck.
But, I digress.
Just hope that you will be the next lucky person.
Most importantly, remember something that most "YouTubers" have forgotten; Have fun with it.
I'm kind of in the same boat as you. i had a channel before but account complications prompted me to close it and start over with a channel that was not all messed up. I'm just doing it for the fun of it on the side but it would be nice for it to get some views. So my advice.
1.Lot's of personality. I struggle with this one because I feel like I'm being very enthusiastic and listen to my commentary and realize I sound bored and tired.
2.make sure your audio is clean and clear. Good mic, Good recording environment and anything else you need to have the best sound you can. Wether it be a god interface or some good software. I've seen a lot of really entertaining videos held back by bad audio.
3.for your speech I suggest that you record yourself and practice talking into a mic until you speak the way you want to. Slow down is good advice. But be sure you are aware how you sound on your recordings.
4.Try and edit your videos to make them feel a little more natural. I'm not very good at this one and it's a skill I hope to learn as time goes on.
Just a couple simple things that i can contribute. And for the views, It depends on a million factors. How well you promote your work is one. Not how much but how cleverly. How good the content itself actually is and how it holds up to things in a similar vein. If the people viewing it are wanting to share and of course how lucky you are with viewers. Also on a small side note. Don't monazite your channel until you have a steady fan base. People hate ads and will only deal with them to see something they are really interested in. If your not established and don't have a dedicated fan base then having ads on your videos might push away potential fans more then draw them in. Good luck with your channel and I'd love to see a video when you get one out.
You can just call me Canary.
