The Minecraft YouTube community is so flourished already that it would be hard to get "famous" based on Minecraft alone. The best thing you can do to get known quick is Lets Build and Showcase videos because that's something people look for so they can recreate or get new ideas. You could do redstone as well, but it'd have to be something neat. Machinimas would be cool. but it'd also have to be good. What do you mean by Tips 'n; Tricks? There really isn't much not known to the players of Minecraft. You'd have to do something original or not very well known so you're not just accused of stealing the idea.
You've got some good ideas up there, and it's good to know you won't be the next yogscast in twenty seconds. Here's my list of things to keep in mind when making a youtube channel. Basically, do something new.
Basically, the problem with most Let’s Plays I see in this section is that they are the same old same old. Youtube says there are About 17,500,000 results for Minecraft, and About 4,510 results for “Vanilla Minecraft Let’s Play Part 1” in the last 24 hours. (Granted, not all of them actually fit the bill. But even if only 1% of them fit the bill, and if you are in the top 99% of youtubers in terms of skill level at youtubing, then in a day there will be plenty more let's play series that are better than yours. That's what you are up against.) It seems to me that the most successful youtubers are the ones who do something that isn’t just the normal vanilla minecraft let’s play.
Now, let’s look at something more original. There are probably about 100 results for “Minecraft ICBM Mod War”, “Minecraft Cold War”, and “Minecraft Nuclear War” combined in the past week. Only about half are actually anywhere near what I’m searching for. There are probably a ton of duplicates too. Not much competition, but tons of demand.
- Modded server series featuring a storyline about an alien invasion and Minecraftia's desperate attempts to rally and defend itself. - A sky-pirate series using Metaworlds or archimedes’s ships or such with a crew of pirates taking on other vessels. Could be a storyline or a pvp map series. - A fake "company" in FTB. Each video would be advertising a specific product, from nuclear missile turtles to floating castles. - Two teams, ICBM mod installed. Cold war ensues. (The finale of that series will be fun) - Recreate popular games in Minecraft maps, from temple run to Skyrim. - Recreate battles in history using minecraft as a medium. - PVP battles on arenas you or your friends have made. Obviously don’t just play others maps, make your own! - Pig Grand Prix: Each episode, some players get together to do a new course of pig racing. From rainbow-road-esque highways to the nether, get your pig to the finish first. - A spy movie in minecraft. You could really take this any way you want, but if you had maybe 5 people to play the bad guys, you could do something really awesome with grappling hooks and air ducts. I don't know
As you can probably tell, I'm a fan of roleplaying and scripts. But that doesn't mean you have to be. Maybe you would enjoy doing a let's play of a adventure map, or a mod review, or even make your own mods? I really don't know. Play to your strengths: If you are good at comedy, do comedy, and so on.

Here is my signature. If you like it, I am amazed.
Redstone is something that has a large audience, and usually if you find something good, a few people might shout you out to give credit. But you really cannot get a large audience just doing redstone. Here are some stats
DicoTheRedstoner - Popular for redstone, but only has 17,000 subs
Mumbo Jumbo - Very popular, but posts vanilla smp videos, 238,000 subs
Squirtdude - Only a little popular, 27,000 subs
These people post mostly redstone and just like almost everyone else, not many people are going to stay on a channel just for redstone. It is confusing for some, and others just don't want to bother with it.
But someone like Docm77 or GenerikB who do a little redstone for those people but also like to play survival minecraft and occasionally other games. These people are successful because they hit more than 1 or 2 groups of fans.

So, what should I do? I have some ideas but idk if I should do a bunch of stuff or just focus on one thing. Heres what I got:
Let's Play
Factions
Trolling?
Machinimas!
Redstone
Showcases Of Things
Lets Build!
Tips 'n' Tricks
Should I do all these or just stick to one or a few? Also any tips would be greatly appreciated
Thnks
