Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone would like to take a peek at my video and let me know what I could be doing better. Really new to this - as in 100% new - so I know it's probably pretty rough. And it runs for a bit over half an hour - something I don't intend to do regularly as I know how attention spans can be short...
Anyway:
Thank you for any sort of comments/feedback/criticisms you might have!
Pretty good for your first video, and like IceBird said, you should try and get a different editing software. I know they aren't cheap, but you can find some good free ones that don't make you seem that bad on YouTube. I subscribed as well
I don't suppose you (or anyone) would have a recommendation? Is the issue with WMM the resolution? Because a couple test videos I did, I was able to do at 720p. This one... Not entirely sure what went wrong, but I think it was the beginning where I name and create my world - then there's a switch within the game itself (I think) and WMM locked the resolution at that even though I chose higher.
Or is it just the fades and intro? Haha... Yeah, those won't be making any more appearances.
Specifically Talking about episode 2 : Be ready for some possible bashing.
Wow. That beginning. Idk what the *NaughtyWord* you're doing. But that certainly, sucked.
1. Use Crossfades to transition video - Universally used for stuff, those quick jump cuts are not good. Very Jumpy. No one will be able to tell it is WMM. Although even THAT shouldn't be a problem for starting out, people shouldn't care.
2. Minecraft Let's plays (or sandbox games in general) are the HARDEST things to commentate on - because there is no "real" objective. To start to gather an audience I would go for something that is easier to commente & more entertaining.
3. You MUST have an intro of some sorts - If that beginning of random clicking and getting diamonds was it, then these tips might help...
Make your intros HELLA Shorter.
Have sound... I thought my headphones blew a fuse.
Make it interesting. Although getting diamonds is good, it's particularly.. super exciting, or, comical
4. Music - I usually mention this to all, soft, soft, background music would be good. Luckily MC had music that helped.
5. Be a little bit MORE exciting.. Sounds like you're giving a tutorial on how to make something out of redstone. Now. Don't get as crazy as SkyDoesMinecraft, cause he's annoying at that point. But somewhere inbetween.
Don't mean to come off as rude or anything. But. Yeah. Good luck.
I suppose to me, episode 2 was just a very short time after episode 1 - so that beginning that you don't know what I'm doing is probably because of that. I get you there.
Crossfades, transitions, etc. - yeah, I guess I was just playing around with it a bit to see how different sorts of edits worked? Those 3 videos I've put up are quite literally the only 3 I've ever made. So I appreciate the feedback there. Sort of just feeling around in the dark here
I don't have much to say about your #2 - I'll look into other possibilities though. It is pretty tough to be entertaining when there is not clear objective - that much you're totally right about.
Intro - again, super new, so I was just putting together a few things I had done in the time between ep1 and ep2. I suppose it didn't come across as well as I thought :/
When it comes to music - I typically hate videos with background music, so I pretty much decided against that from the beginning. I'll possibly reevaluate that as well.
And I'll try to get my entertainment value up I thought that second one was kind of dry, but I didn't realize it was that bad.
Thanks for the pointers! I appreciate you taking the time
