The idea for the server is that everyone is going to be recording videos in a mindcrack like style. The server is going to be based on a 512x512 map where resources will quickly run out and we will have to make sustainable ways to live, eg. Iron Golem Farm, Monster spawner farms, etc. Everyone will have to share space and find ways to have everyone live together efficiently and effectively. People will not be allowed to leave the main island (you will be prevented from leaving via bukkit plugins!) unless an event is scheduled to leave the island for a set period of time.
The Terrain
The terrain was generated with Minecraft 1.5.2, it is surrounded with a void space of 4 chunks in every direction, or 64 blocks, after that new generation begins to spawn.
The 512x512 map area contains the following biomes:
Forest
Desert
Swampland
Plains
Jungle
Ice Plains
Ocean
Technical Biomes:
River
Frozen River
Beach
Hills
In no way accurate or extensive; there may be others I haven't seen

Don't be afraid to post your suggestions here, remember, if you apply and get accepted this will be your server that you will be going on very often! You're going to want it to be the best possible and have no problems.
I don't quite like the idea of PvP and pillaging and stealing, which your idea would encourage. The idea of my server is that everyone works together, one thing that I would be ok with would be that people could separate from the others and live by themselves, no one could touch or modify their creations, without their consent, or take their materials and use them.
Also my server isn't going to be something that would end over a set period of time, it would be a server where you login if you wish and create something, kind of like in a LP world, but the idea is that you must build stuff with sustainability and limited space in mind.
The partner idea would work to some extent, but they would need to be working together on something and choose when to record and when to actually do stuff off camera. The idea I had when I started this thread was that the first episode everyone would be in the same chat and discuss things, findings, and more. Also the small community on the server would be able to help others if they needed help, or if someone is new to recording they could partner up with someone who has experience and continue with the partner idea.
I also have an idea that if people choose to separate from the main group then the different groups could compete to gain the monopoly of non-renewable resources, which would ultimately put them in control of armour, and other resources.
The verdict/tl;dr: this isn't going to be a PvP server (it could if people agree to do PvP!), the series would be of indefinite length, and people could choose to split up or compete for resources if they want to, just no stealing or being malicious!
Here are a few suggestions I'm looking for:

Should the nether be allowed and if so should it be limited like the main land?
What kind of off-land events should we hold?
Should players be allowed to build a few blocks out into the void?

I dont get why this has zero reactions, because it seems like a cool concept!
Some things though, maybe instead of all working together, making it more competetive might be a good idea. Like, some people will be pro inventors/builders,
Others will choose the thug life and try and survive that way? Maybe make it so that when you die because you're out of resources, you're out?
And maybe, just maybe, partner people up? If not you are relying on everyone being able to commentate on their own for a set period of time..
I suggest checking out Evanz111's capture the diamond videos, and learn from the things that went wrong there.

Off land events should be more game styled things such as spleef tournies, or the cops and robbers, or anything else that is popular.
And about building into the void, i'm not sure, its an interesting concept to let them but at the same time it makes less of a restriction on size, so it could work either way.
