Hey guys so ive been making videos for awhile now and recently one of my "friends" has been trying to tell everyone because he knows i dont want people to know. Sometimes i really dont want to go to school becuase im afraid people are going to bring it up. But i do like making the videos. Im torn.
Nothing would ever get created if we stopped at the first sign of criticism, or the first time we felt self-doubt.
If you enjoy making videos, nothing should prevent you from doing that unless it's a decision you come to yourself... for example, if it became boring, or became too much like work and not fun any more. If you stop only because of what someone else says (no matter what it is they say) then you may never do anything creative - and no one should have that power over you.
You haven't said why you don't want people to know, but I can't imagine very many valid answers. Who cares what you do creatively. "Haha, you make videos!"... "...and?". The kind of responses I'm imagining you are worried about only happen when you openly worry about them. If it's clear to others that you don't care if they know, then they will cease to bring it up.
You likely would not care if your friend started telling people your age, which is why this person is not bringing that up. If you did care, then they have a reason to bring it up and try and ridicule you for it.
Anyway, I know I am rambling, and it's easier for me to say this as an adult with some years behind me, but seriously - stop letting it bother you and it will stop. Focus on making videos and don't let anyone else stop you except you.

It may seem like the most difficult thing for you at the moment to be dealing with something like this but all things pass. Just be confident in the videos you've made and keep doing what you enjoy. Don't be intimidated by the attention because if you're planning to get bigger, you're going to get it anyway.
Just go with the flow, I say! There are a lot of cool things about being on YouTube: 1. as a partner you're earning money while you're at school; 2. you're gaining experience that you can add to your resume; 3. you're learning how to collaborate with people which is good experience for the future.
It may seem like a big deal in highschool, but dude highschool is such a joke and there are a lot of idiots you will probably never ever talk to again, not many people here even hang out with their 'best friend(s)' after grad. If the opinion of a bunch of idiots who aren't doing anything like this, know nothing about it, or know the amount of work some of these channels take, sure, stop.
And yeah this is why I never told anyone I made videos, saved me a lot of bs to deal with.
I can see why you might get trouble from people knowing. Especially if "gaming" is seen as a nerdy thing to do in your grade.
You can take some power from knowing people you know actually watch your videos, you can strive to make them the best you can in order to impress the people and show them that you can be good at something while enjoying yourself! You also get alot of self satisfaction out of making a good video!
I agree with the points raised above as well and if you want any adivice then feel free to message me. (i check youtube more often)

Yeah it does for sure feel like a bigger problem than it probably actually is. I think they will get tired of bothering after awhile. Thanks!
As I remember it, it's not easy being a kid (Or teen, whatever) but I skimmed your videos and they look fine.
I no longer talk to anyone I knew in highschool, highschool is just something you get over with and then life starts.
If you wish to make videos, it would be stupid stopping because of something that will have no influence on your life in a few years.
Just have fun with it.
If you enjoy making videos why would you stop because of peer pressure? Idk what group u fit into at your school, but im 17 and when i was 16 i was on the football team and i told everyone my channel cus honestly im a big guy so no1 does anything, afew watched (the ones who were abit into the internet and watching youtube ect, like me) and they said my videos where pretty good. But being afraid of who your are isn't right, if u don't want them to know thats fine, but if they judge its their problem not yours
