I have a youtube channel(http://www.youtube.c...em?feature=mhee - NOT AN AD FOR IT!) and I was wondering if it is a good idea to start a let's play of Minecraft. I read somewhere that because there's so many out there that it would be a bad idea to do one.
My question is; would the Minecraft community accept another Minecraft let's play and would they watch it?
I know for myself I can't get enough Minecraft let's plays for the days when I'm bored.
About my playing style and commentary personality. (If your interested.)
Playing style:
-Like to take risks
-Like to build when I have time/creativity to spare
-Would prefer to use Redstone with most builds
-Must complete what I start or it bugs me
Commentary personality:
-Energetic
-Joking -Exaggerates? This may lead to confusion so I'll just take it out. It wasn't there to say I'd fake react.
-Easy going
-Have been told I'm nice to listen to
-Won't swear (hopefully)

This is all I could think of to take pictures of.
I will be doing LP's of other games so don't think Minecraft would be the only thing I do.
You need pictures, you need a base outline for it, and yes there are a lot but if you are good at it you will succeed, however you wont know till you try it.

Like a lot of youtubers say, the most important thing is that you have fun when doing your LP or whatever. If you do it only for the money forget about it.
I can't see myself ever doing it for the money. I started my channel to share the fun I have playing games I would most likely enjoy but forget to play without encouragement to play them.

How do you get money out of a Let's Play?
I am not one to do it for money, but I am just curious..
My question is; would the Minecraft community except accept another Minecraft let's play and would they watch it?
And my question to you, is what do you have to offer that we haven't seen dozens of times before in the LP's that are already out there? Why should I watch your show, when there are still plenty of new (to me) episodes from guys like Etho and paulsoaresjr to watch?
Not trying to be a ****, just illustrating the thought process of your average J. Random YouTuber.

Great question. I don't know what I have to offer that's different because I haven't tried to do a LP yet. I'll be willing now to take any suggestions you have to offer that will make my LP interesting/different
I appreciate all the feed back
I say go for it! I've just started doing Youtube videos and I'm really enjoying making them. Do them for yourself. If you get subscribers then great, but don't do it just to be recognised and famous. There are a lot of people out there with a lot of different tastes, who knows, maybe you could be the next big thing!
I'm just starting out too and that's just what I'm doing, doing the videos for myself and having fun no matter the view count!
Keep it up!
Redelem, pm me a link to your Youtube channel and I'll take a look. Another good reason for doing it is that you'll be learning how to do video editing and all that kind of stuff. Knowledge is power!!
The link is in the OP. But here it is anyways http://www.youtube.c...em?feature=mhee(I think this link works?)
Please don't advertise your channel the comments though.
If it isn't a generic LP, then yes. I see you would like to do redstone and those kind of videos always get my attention.
If I were to do it, I hope it wouldn't be a generic LP. Maybe list some things to avoid.
I'll defenitly be doing more Redstone videos, that's the only reason I got Minecraft in the first place, but now I enjoy survival as well
Thanks

You could also help out the unpopular mods. You're helping out people and having fun(hopefully). Same can go for texture packs. Usually videos can get the word out for a mod/texture pack.

I would like to help out mods But this is about a lets play, which I could incorporate mods into. Or have a separate LP or mod/texture pack showcase.
Also, don't do a Minecraft LP. First off, it doesn't even make sense. It's like doing a Garry's Mod LP, there's no actual objective or comparative behaviors. Plus it's literally as unoriginal as doing a LP of Happy Wheels.
Try actually thinking out of the box and doing a LP of something creative. Like an obscure DOS game, or a crappy kid's Wii game and then make fun of it. (riffing LPs are where it's at, no one cares about people playing games and enjoying it. see: angry video game nerd)
The process is called 'monetization'. I plan on doing it one of these days, I've watched enough Let's Plays and other game related videos to know what people like. I also know quite a lot of websites that offer free Royalty Free music. And I've got a million ideas I haven't seen many or any people do yet.
I just don't have the right technology yet. n__n; I hate low quality stuff, and I refuse to make a channel full of 360P laggy videos and bad animations.

Thanks for the feed back, unless your a machine 0.o
-Pride- I hate face cams too. So I'll never do it. Fake reacting is noticeable and isn't how I want to do my videos
-Gluttony- Subs and views are of no concern to me. I even fear the idea of being popular on Youtube 0.o
-Sloth- No problem for me, I'm going through an anti-procrastination stage in my life lol
-Greed- Been told all my life to hate greed, and I do. I don't even get every popular game, let-a-lone on day one.
-Lust- As much I enjoy a good Let's player, I can't even picture myself doing that 0.o
-Envy- Same as Greed. Does this apply to me or the people who would watch my videos?
-Wrath- This is the internet, I chose to start a Youtube channel, I'm prepared to take criticism and was expecting it.
I made this topic to get feed back on whether I should start or not do a Minecraft LP before I made the mistake of just going ahead and doing it. I love the old DOS games! That's an awesome idea
All I can say is that I almost have more uploads than subscribers, at this point, but I enjoy recording, and since I play on a server with my friends it is a cool way for us to see each other's builds easily.
I think that if you get some mods that are not famous [you do like a spotlight but during the series of each mod] and you build cool stuff with redstone your LP series are going to be amazing

In reply to the sizable amount of people who have told you not to do a MineCraft Let's Play because it has been done before I can only say one thing: Most of the more popular Let's Players get their ideas from the general public (smaller gaming channels) not the other way around. So to say MineCraft has been done before therefore don't do it is ridiculous.
Point in fact, reasonable quality recording equipment and having an actual personality will attract viewers. Also you can always launch a MineCraft series that hasn't been done before. For example, I would LOVE to find a map production series, but those are relatively rare (launch one and I'll be your number one subscriber *winkyface*)

I was thinking of using mods that aren't all that famous, its a good idea, I have two mods in mind I could use, maybe more. I'd probably use mods that are famous too though. And I'd definitely use Redstone because it's almost the only thing I do in vanilla Minecraft now lol

If you want to get views, play something that isn't done everyday, Do something fun. When minecraft LP's start to calm down, then yes.
Otherwise I don't recommend it.
And have fun too.
